Bringing Vietnam - US relations to develop more and more stable, substantive and effective

Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc affirmed that Vietnam always consistently considers the US as a partner of top strategic importance.

On August 19, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo Member, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc received US Ambassador to Vietnam Jennifer Wicks to pay a courtesy visit on the occasion of the Ambassador's start of her term in Vietnam, according to Chinhphu.vn.

At the reception, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc congratulated Ms. Jennifer Wicks on starting her term of office in Vietnam and highly appreciated the fact that right in the first weeks of her term, the Ambassador actively implemented many activities, thereby showing high respect for the relations between the two countries and determination to promote bilateral cooperation right from the beginning of her term.

The Standing Deputy Prime Minister believes that, with many years of experience working in the US Administration and understanding of the region, the Ambassador will have a successful term, making important contributions to promoting the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to develop stably, substantively, and effectively.

The Standing Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam consistently considers the US as one of the most strategically important partners, wishing to fully promote the strategic value of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework with the US and bring cooperation into depth, in which economy, trade and investment continue to be the driving force; science - technology, innovation and human resource development become strategic and long-term areas of cooperation.

The Standing Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ambassador to promote the role of a bridge, promote high-level activities, and effectively implement the agreements reached, ensuring that Vietnam-US relations continue to develop stably and sustainably, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries, as well as contributing to peace, stability and development in the region.

Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc affirmed that Vietnam is implementing a new development model, in which science and technology, innovation and digital transformation are identified as key drivers. Accordingly, Vietnam welcomes US businesses to invest long-term, have advanced technology, associated with technology transfer, human resource training and strengthening links with Vietnamese businesses.

The Standing Deputy Prime Minister requested the two sides to promote economic and trade cooperation in a harmonious, sustainable, and mutually beneficial direction; urgently remove obstacles and soon complete negotiations and sign reciprocal, fair and balanced trade agreements, creating a stable framework for businesses of the two countries to expand investment, production, and business.

Ambassador Jennifer Wicks respectfully thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for taking the time to receive her immediately after the Ambassador began her term in Vietnam; recalled the honor of meeting General Secretary and President To Lam, and sharing her views on Vietnam-US relations that have never been as good as they are now.

In addition, the Ambassador expressed his honor to be assigned by President Trump to promote relations between the two countries, and believed that the two sides would achieve practical results in implementing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The Ambassador affirmed the US commitment to supporting a "strong, independent, self-reliant, prosperous" Vietnam; emphasized that economic and trade cooperation will continue to be a top priority in his term, and will continue to expand cooperation on all other pillars. The Ambassador highly appreciated the efforts of the Vietnamese Government to improve the legal environment, improve investment and business conditions; strengthen dialogue to promote cooperation in areas of mutual concern.

The Ambassador affirmed that he will closely coordinate to promote specific cooperation projects; wishing the two sides to maintain positive exchanges in order to soon reach a high-standard, reciprocal, fair and balanced trade agreement, thereby creating more economic and investment opportunities for both countries.

Ambassador Jennifer Wicks thanked the Vietnamese Government for its concern and direction in promoting common priorities. The Ambassador pledged to do her best to contribute to further developing the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the coming time.
