On the afternoon of October 23, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with President of the South African Republic Cyril Ramaphosa on the occasion of a state visit to Vietnam from October 23 to 24.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure at meeting President Cyril Ramaphosa and the high-ranking South African delegation on a state visit to Vietnam.
Recalling the deep impression of the country and people of South Africa during his visit to South Africa in 2019, the Prime Minister congratulated the outstanding achievements that the people of South Africa have achieved in the development of the country, as well as the important role and contribution of South Africa in regional and global issues.
The Prime Minister said that the two countries have strengths that can complement each other in development and space, the potential to promote cooperation between the two countries is still very large, continuing to expand cooperation to areas such as green transformation, digital transformation, creative economy, renewable energy, communication, and climate change prevention.
Thanking President Cyril Ramaphosa for his invitation to attend the 2025 G20 Summit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam is ready to participate and actively contribute to the overall success of this important event.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his pleasure at visiting Vietnam again, meeting Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, a close friend who witnessed Vietnam's outstanding achievements and historical significance after nearly 40 years of renovation, inspiring South Africa and developing countries.
The South African President hopes that the two sides will strengthen business connections in the fields of mining, manufacturing industry, agriculture, electric cars, high-quality human resource training, maritime, etc.
President Ramaphosa thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for his invitation to attend the G20 Summit, demonstrating Vietnam's responsible contribution to promoting sustainable development and reforming global governance mechanisms.
President Ramaphosa congratulated and believed that Vietnam will successfully organize the Opening Ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, supporting Vietnam's leading role in efforts for digital transformation and global technology governance.
The two sides agreed to promote market opening for goods and products of each side and actively negotiate and soon sign important cooperation documents to facilitate further increase trade turnover and investment cooperation between the two countries.
The two leaders also agreed to soon complete internal procedures to upgrade the bilateral relationship framework to "Strategic Partnership" in 2025.
Regarding multilateral cooperation, the two sides agreed to strengthen coordination and support each other's positions on regional and international issues.
During the visit, the South African President will join Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in attending the Business Forum of the two countries co-organized by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry and the South African Embassy in Vietnam.
