At the invitation of Politburo member and President Luong Cuong, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will pay an official visit to Vietnam and attend the Opening Ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime from October 24 to 25, 2025.
Previously, on September 22, 2025 at the United Nations Headquarters (New York, USA), President Luong Cuong had a meeting with United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, on the occasion of attending the High-level General Assembly Discussion of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, combined with bilateral activities in the US.
At the meeting, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his great anticipation for an official visit to Vietnam at the end of October 2025. The President and the General Secretary both emphasized the historical significance of the opening of the signing of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime in Hanoi.
At the invitation of Politburo member and President Luong Cuong, President of the Republic of South Africa Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa will pay a state visit to Vietnam from October 23 to 24, 2025.

Vietnam and South Africa established diplomatic relations on December 22, 1993.
South Africa is Vietnam's largest trading partner and export market in Africa. Total bilateral trade turnover in 2024 will reach nearly 1.8 billion USD. In the coming time, the two sides can promote cooperation in areas such as mineral exploitation, mechanical engineering, metal smelting, steel, renewable energy, textiles, footwear, fertilizers, processed foods, and supporting industries.
As of July 2025, South Africa has 20 valid investment projects in Vietnam, with an investment capital of 0.88 million USD, ranking 109th out of 151 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.
Vietnam has 4 investment projects in South Africa with a total capital of 8.86 million USD, ranking 45th out of 84 countries and territories in which Vietnam invests abroad.
