At noon on August 13 (local time), in Auckland city, General Secretary and President To Lam and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon met with the press and witnessed the handover of cooperation documents between New Zealand and Vietnam.
Speaking at a press conference, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon affirmed that Vietnam-New Zealand relations are developing stronger and stronger, there has been practical cooperation in many fields and is continuing to expand deep cooperation in the fields of education and agriculture, contributing to increasing new momentum for the two countries' relations.
In the coming time, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon hopes that more businesses will invest and cooperate successfully in each other's markets, especially in the fields of high-quality human resource training, science and technology development, agriculture and environment.
New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon highly appreciated the central role of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as well as Vietnam's influence in the region; affirmed that the visit was very successful, contributing to shaping the relationship between Vietnam and New Zealand in the coming decades.
Speaking at a press conference, announcing the results of the talks, General Secretary and President To Lam stated clearly that the two sides have achieved many practical and specific results; agreed to strengthen contacts at all levels and promote practical actions, ensuring that high-level commitments are concretized by specific results; creating strong changes in trade and investment cooperation, commensurate with the potential between the two countries, creating favorable conditions for the two countries to participate together, and soon achieve the target of 3 billion USD in two-way trade turnover.
Agricultural and environmental cooperation, science and technology are important pillars and consistent with the development goals of the two countries. The two sides agreed to promote a green economy, low emissions, adapt to climate change, and build a typical cooperation model on agriculture and sustainable development. Vietnam highly appreciates New Zealand's practical and effective support in supporting agriculture adapting to climate change in the Mekong Delta region.
Cooperation in education - training, tourism and people-to-people exchanges continues to be further expanded, with the goal of building high-quality human resources in the new development stage, connecting people of the two countries through tourism and encouraging airlines to soon open direct flights between the two countries.
On this occasion, General Secretary and President To Lam and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon witnessed the exchange of cooperation documents between ministries and sectors of the two countries, including: Agreement on implementation of peacekeeping cooperation between the Ministry of National Defense of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of National Defense of New Zealand and the National Defence Forces of New Zealand; Agreement on educational cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and the Ministry of Education of New Zealand; Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of agriculture and environment between the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam and the Ministry of Basic Sectors of New Zealand; Package of agreement on market access between the Ministry of Basic Sectors of New Zealand and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam; Letter on announced grants: CGIAR Asian Mega Deltas Initiative; ASEAN climate-adapted smart agriculture initiative.
