Within the framework of attending the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion Cooperation Summit and working in China, on November 8, in Chongqing city, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee Yuan Jiajun.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure at visiting Chongqing City, affirming that the Vietnamese Government attaches importance to developing relations with China, supports and is ready to create all favorable conditions for Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities to expand and enhance friendly exchanges and comprehensive cooperation with Chongqing City. The Prime Minister thanked the Party Committee and government of Chongqing City for renovating the exhibition area of President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities in Chongqing at the Hongyan Revolutionary Museum.
Emphasizing that Vietnam has been Chongqing's largest trade partner for the past five consecutive years and its largest investment destination in ASEAN, Chongqing Party Secretary Yuan Jiajun affirmed that the Chongqing Party Committee and government highly value the friendly cooperative relationship with Vietnam.
Chongqing Party Secretary Yuan Jiajun highly appreciated the exchange of diplomatic notes between the two foreign ministries on the establishment of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Chongqing, believing that the Vietnamese Consulate General will be an important bridge in promoting cooperation in various fields between Vietnam and Chongqing in particular and with the western region of China in general to new heights, bringing practical benefits to businesses and people of both sides.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed promoting exchanges of delegations at all levels and sectors, further enhancing mutual understanding between Vietnam and Chongqing, and requested relevant agencies of Chongqing city to support and assist Vietnam in completing relevant procedures so that the Vietnamese Consulate General in Chongqing can officially come into operation; creating favorable conditions for the operation and work of the Consulate General in the future, thereby soon promoting its role as a bridge for exchange and cooperation between the two sides.
The Prime Minister proposed to continue deepening substantive cooperation in various fields, consolidating the material foundation for bilateral relations; requesting relevant Chongqing agencies to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to effectively exploit the China-Europe international railway, export Vietnamese goods to third countries; import more high-quality Vietnamese goods; take advantage of the mutual complementarity in the import-export structure of the two sides to expand bilateral trade turnover; further promote cooperation in tourism, culture, education, people-to-people exchange and local cooperation; actively study the opening of more direct flights between Chongqing and major localities of Vietnam to facilitate exchanges and travel of people on both sides.
Chongqing Party Secretary Yuan Jiajun affirmed that the Chongqing Party Committee and government will create favorable conditions for the operation of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Chongqing and closely coordinate with Vietnamese ministries, branches and localities to effectively implement the proposals of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, especially effectively exploiting the China-Europe international railway, increasing the import of high-quality goods from Vietnam; hoping that the two sides will cooperate in areas where Chongqing has strengths or where both sides have needs such as industrial production, new materials, new energy, warehousing, logistics, tourism, actively contributing to the building of the China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.
