Prime Minister meets Vietnamese community in Chongqing, China

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that the Vietnamese community in Chongqing and China will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity and mutual love.

On the morning of November 8, during his program to attend conferences of Mekong sub-regional cooperation mechanisms and work in China, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with overseas Vietnamese students and the Vietnamese community in Chongqing city.

According to the Government Newspaper, reporting at the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai said that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is the first Vietnamese leader to visit Chongqing city in 15 years.

Opinions at the meeting said that there are currently nearly 400 international students and 600 Vietnamese people living in the Chongqing area, with relatively stable lives, always united, preserving and promoting national culture, Vietnamese language, and looking towards their homeland and country.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his joy at visiting Chongqing - a beautiful, modern city and meeting the Vietnamese community studying and living here; he was moved by the warm welcome from the Vietnamese community right at the airport with his warm homeland sentiment.

The Prime Minister highly appreciated the great efforts of the Vietnamese community in Chongqing in particular and in China in general, which have promoted the tradition of "mutual love", solidarity, support and help each other in work, study and life.

The Prime Minister requested the Vietnamese Embassy in China and Vietnamese representative agencies to continue to well implement foreign political tasks according to the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, multilateralization, being a friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community, for peace, cooperation and development.

At the same time, we will be more proactive in implementing economic diplomacy to maximize all resources for national development. We will continue to do well in cultural, consular, community diplomacy and citizen protection in the spirit of Resolution 36 of the Politburo and Conclusion No. 12-KL/TW of the Politburo on the work of overseas Vietnamese in the new situation.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that the Vietnamese community in Chongqing and China will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity and mutual love, proactively make practical and effective contributions to the cause of national construction and development; promote the role of a bridge for the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries; and actively contribute to building the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.

"I hope that each and every one of you, overseas students, will always strive, have ambitions, dreams, aspirations and ideals, promote the spirit of self-reliance, self-improvement, master your life, master technology; wherever you are, as long as you can best develop your abilities and when conditions permit, turn towards and contribute to your homeland and country. I hope that each of you will be a bridge of the Vietnam - China friendship "mountains connecting mountains, rivers connecting rivers", "both comrades and brothers" - the Prime Minister said.

Regarding the aspirations and proposals of our compatriots, the Prime Minister shares, acknowledges and will direct research agencies to continue taking appropriate measures to meet the legitimate aspirations of our compatriots abroad, including policies for overseas students.
