On November 6, on the occasion of attending multilateral conferences in Kunming, China, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a bilateral meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting, the Prime Minister conveyed to Prime Minister Hun Manet, the leaders and people of Cambodia his best wishes on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of Cambodia's National Day (November 9, 1953 - November 9, 2024).
Congratulating Cambodia on its socio-economic development achievements in recent times, the Prime Minister believes that Cambodia will continue to achieve more important and comprehensive achievements in the coming time.
The Prime Minister affirmed that the tradition of solidarity, attachment and mutual assistance between Vietnam and Cambodia is a valuable asset and one of the important factors in the past struggle for national liberation and the current construction and development of each country.
The Prime Minister conveyed the greetings of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to senior leaders of the Cambodian Party and State.
Prime Minister Hun Manet conveyed his regards and thanks to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the leaders and people of Vietnam; congratulated Vietnam on its remarkable achievements, especially in socio-economic development, in recent times; and believed that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam will continue to gain even greater achievements in the cause of national construction and development.
The two Prime Ministers were pleased with the development of the good neighborly relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability between the two countries in recent times, and welcomed the two countries' regular maintenance of high-level visits and contacts at all levels.
The two sides agreed to strengthen defense and security cooperation, closely coordinate in the fight against hostile forces' plots to sabotage and divide the relationship between the two countries; encourage and facilitate investment and business activities of enterprises of the two countries, strive to achieve the target of bilateral trade turnover of 20 billion USD in the coming time; commit to promoting traffic connectivity, especially in border areas to facilitate border trade as well as people-to-people exchanges between border provinces.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that both sides promote the settlement of areas where border demarcation and marker planting have not been completed. Both sides agreed to increase exchanges and meetings between young leaders and the younger generations of the two countries to enhance understanding, create more ties and trust, as well as attach special importance to and enhance educational cooperation, and strengthen propaganda, especially to the younger generation, about the traditional values of solidarity and mutual assistance between the two countries.
The two Prime Ministers emphasized the significance and historical value of the Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos relationship; affirmed to continue maintaining cooperation mechanisms between the three countries in all channels, for the benefit of the people of the three countries, for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh happily accepted the invitation of Prime Minister Hun Manet to pay an official visit to Cambodia soon; a suitable time will be arranged through diplomatic channels.
