Vietnam was one of the countries that early supported the establishment of a specialized Committee as well as actively participating in the process of developing the Convention from the first session. Throughout 8 sessions of the Specialized Committee, the Vietnamese interdisciplinary negotiating team led by Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Vietnamese Permanent Delegation to the United Nations, made substantive and positive contributions. , recognized and highly appreciated by the Presidium, international friends and partners.
The draft Convention sets out a comprehensive legal framework for member countries to conduct international cooperation in preventing, investigating, prosecuting and adjudicating crimes in cyberspace, including many types of crimes. currently causing problems such as computer system attacks, online fraud, illegal distribution of sensitive images, child abuse, money laundering... For Vietnam, the adoption of the draft Convention has many important meanings.
First, the draft Convention sets out a specific and comprehensive legal framework for Vietnamese authorities to establish and enhance effective cooperation with law enforcement forces of other countries.
