At a regular press conference on the afternoon of October 31, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Doan Khac Viet said that immediately after receiving the information, the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia worked with local authorities to verify the incident and the identity of the Vietnamese citizen involved and deployed necessary protection measures for Vietnamese citizens.
According to the Deputy Spokesperson, the Embassy is currently coordinating with Malaysian authorities to handle related work, including verifying the identities of those involved in order to take necessary measures for protection.
Through this incident, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Vietnamese citizens working abroad must go through companies with reliable addresses in Vietnam, and should not believe in advertisements for easy jobs with high salaries without basis.
Previously, on October 21, the Malaysian Immigration Department rescued seven Vietnamese women aged 32-45 suspected of being victims of sexual exploitation during an anti-human trafficking and illegal migration operation at a facility in Selangor.
Seven Vietnamese women were allegedly locked up in the facility and beaten if they refused to serve customers. The women entered Malaysia as tourists but were forced into prostitution. They were closely monitored through a surveillance camera system.
Also related to citizen protection work, at the press conference, Deputy Spokesperson Doan Khac Viet answered questions about the case of a Vietnamese woman being arrested by Greek police for allegedly smuggling nearly 300 kg of gold.
The Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Vietnamese authorities, first of all the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece, will coordinate with Greek authorities to learn more about this information.
