Sports Chosun reported that luxury cosmetics brand Yves Saint Laurent Beaute (YSL Beauty) has chosen Rose (Blackpink), who is showing global influence as an artist and member of the world's most famous girl group Blackpink, as its brand ambassador.
The brand's Instagram account also posted a video welcoming Rose to the YSL Beauty family on the afternoon of January 24.
“Rose embodies YSL Beauty: bold, fearless and modern. We are delighted to embark on this new journey with Rose, who is a powerful influencer of our time,” said Stephan Bezy, International General Manager of YSL Beauty.
The female ambassador will appear in the "YSL Beauty Love Collection" campaign, which will be launched on Valentine's Day in Korea.
On social networks, fans shared the news and expressed their joy when Rose and YSL Beauty "rekindled their old love".
In June 2021, Rose was announced as the global ambassador of luxury fashion brand Saint Laurent (YSL). In February 2021, Rose was chosen as the "muse" (ambassador) of YSL Beauty.
Although they share the same name, YSL, they are two completely separate brands. Saint Laurent is part of the Kering Group, while YSL Beauty is part of the L'Oreal Group. So at the time, Rose was serving as an ambassador for two luxury brands.
Rose's contract with YSL Beauty only lasts for a little over a year. In August 2022, she will become the global ambassador of Sulwhasoo.
Despite this, YSL Beauty and Rose seem to have maintained a “good relationship” over the past 3 years. YSL Beauty’s Instagram account has never unfollowed Rose’s account.
During Blackpink's 2023 Born Pink global tour, the YSL Beauty team was given their own room. Fans speculated that the beauty brand would likely still sponsor Rose, even though she is currently an ambassador for another brand.
Evidence that YSL Beauty is "missing" Rose is clearly shown in a scandal that happened last July.
At that time, the YSL Beauty account “liked” a number of comments praising “former ambassador” Rose under the post of female ambassador Sana (TWICE). This action was criticized and caused a heated debate among the fan communities of the two artists.
Afterwards, YSL had to explain that the Instagram account manager had "mistakenly replied" about negative content towards Sana, and apologized to the female ambassador.
In September 2024, Rose ended her contract with Sulwhasoo, and YSL Beauty quickly recruited Rose, bringing the singer back as an ambassador for the brand.
