Obesity is a complex chronic disease, related to more than 200 health complications such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, joint degeneration... Vietnam is witnessing a rapid increase in overweight - obesity of up to 38%, among the countries with the highest growth rate in Southeast Asia.
In order to raise people's awareness of obesity, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management - Ministry of Health will organize an online consultation program on the topic "Obesity and some related diseases" at 10:00 a.m. on December 10, 2025.

The program was led by experts: Dr. Dr. Ha Anh Duc - Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management - Ministry of Health; Prof. Dr. Pham Manh Hung - Head of the Department of Cardiology, Hanoi Medical University, Chairman of the Southeast Asian Cardiovascular Federation; Dr. Phan Thanh Thuy - Respiratory Center, Bach Mai Hospital.
The program is implemented within the framework of the Cooperation to improve medical capacity between the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management - Ministry of Health, the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam, and Novo Nordisk Vietnam Company to support the enhancement of public health education on non-communicable diseases, including diabetes and obesity.
