The program was attended by Mr. Cao Duc Phat - former member of the Party Central Committee, former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chairman of the Community Fund for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (QPT); Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep - Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, Mr. Phan Duc Tu - Chairman of BIDV's Board of Directors.
According to the agreement, BIDV will coordinate with QPT to deploy the planting of 240,000 trees in mangrove forests in the Can Tho area. The program is implemented in areas affected by natural disasters, saline intrusion and saltwater intrusion, contributing to improving the ecological environment and strengthening the resilience of coastal ecosystems. This activity is part of the "1 million tree planting" program launched by BIDV to respond to the Prime Minister's Project to plant 1 billion trees.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Cao Duc Phat - Chairman of QPT highly appreciated BIDV's companionship in climate change response and disaster prevention programs, especially the mangrove reforestation initiative in the Mekong Delta region.
BIDV's coordination with QPT to implement the tree planting program not only contributes to improving the ecological environment but also strengthens the "green shield" to protect the community from increasing natural disaster risks.
He affirmed that the Fund will closely coordinate with local authorities and relevant units to organize the implementation of planting, caring for and monitoring crops according to proper techniques, ensuring a high survival rate, contributing to improving disaster prevention capacity and sustainable development for the region.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep - Vice Chairwoman of Can Tho City People's Committee - thanked BIDV and QPT for their concern and support for the locality in planting mangrove forests.
She said that the city government will closely coordinate with relevant units to organize effective implementation, select suitable areas and plants, and at the same time commit to ensuring the planting, care and protection of green trees, contributing to promoting the long-term effectiveness of the project in improving the ecological environment and improving the ability to respond to climate change.

Responding to the Prime Minister's Directive on planting and caring for 1 billion trees, BIDV has implemented the program "planting 1 million trees" in 5 years 2022 - 2026.
To date, BIDV's "1 million tree planting" program has achieved positive results with more than 760,000 trees planted in many provinces and cities across the country, stretching from the Northern mountains, Central region to the Mekong Delta - areas heavily affected by natural disasters and climate change. The implementation of the 240,000 tree planting program in Can Tho city will contribute to BIDV fulfilling its commitments and completing the "Planting 1 Million Trees" program.
