Ha Long Canned Food Company re-produces, tightens food safety control

After more than half a year of temporary suspension of operation, Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company has officially restarted the factory with a series of solutions to strengthen food safety control.

Along with that, businesses also consolidate the quality management system and restructure the operating apparatus, and at the same time affirm that they will take product quality and transparency in operation as a basis to gradually regain consumer confidence.

Sharing about the process of preparing to put the factory back into operation, a representative of Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company said: The enterprise has conducted a comprehensive review of the food safety control chain, from the stage of selecting suppliers, receiving raw materials to the production stages in the factory.

Accordingly, the current control system is designed in a multi-layered direction, increasing the ability to detect risks early and improving the efficiency of traceability. For suppliers, the Company completes the selection, approval and monitoring process based on five mandatory criteria groups, including legality, quality management system, traceability, preliminary processing conditions, preservation, transportation as well as commitments to control physical, chemical, biological and allergenic hazards. Units that do not meet the requirements will be considered for replacement.

According to a representative of the Company, raw materials when imported to the factory are checked for dossiers, goods status and preservation conditions before receiving. Only batches that meet the requirements are put into production, while batches that do not meet the requirements will be separated and processed according to internal procedures.

In the production stage, businesses add many modern monitoring tools such as digitizing control forms at key stages, installing additional surveillance cameras and applying barcodes in warehouse management to reduce manual errors, while improving traceability for each batch of raw materials and finished products.

For boxed and sterilized sausage product lines, the Company pays special attention to controlling packaging tightness and sterilization procedures - stages that directly affect food safety.

According to business leaders, the biggest change after the review process is that the control system is operating more synchronously, with more layers and has better monitoring and traceability throughout the production chain.

After more than 6 months of temporary suspension of operation, the Company has also repaired and upgraded some items of factories, machinery, equipment and completed operating conditions before resuming production. In parallel with that, technical staff, workers and laborers are further trained and fostered in expertise, quality control procedures and food safety.

The plant has undergone a trial operation phase since May to assess the stability of the system before officially restarting from June according to the appropriate roadmap. The company also merges production workshops, rearranges premises to improve synchronization in operation, strengthens coordination between stages and tightens supervision at key control points.

Regarding workers, the business said it has made efforts to ensure regimes according to regulations and actual conditions during the temporary suspension of production, including suspension wages, insurance and related benefits. When the factory resumes operation, jobs, income and psychological stability of workers continue to be prioritized.

Regarding the quality management system, on May 25, 2026, the Company was re-certified ISO 22000:2018 for the food safety management system at Hai Phong Factory. The enterprise also completes legal conditions, internal control programs and only deploys production when it fully meets the requirements for quality management, food safety as well as current legal regulations.

According to the Company's leaders, the immediate goal is to maintain the stable operation of the factory, tighten internal discipline and improve the efficiency of control in each production stage.

For customers and partners, businesses determine that trust can only be built by practical actions through more cautious operation, stricter quality control, strict compliance with legal regulations and always receptiveness in receiving feedback from the market" - the business representative said.
