On February 6, the press conference announced the 23rd Vietnam Poetry Day in 2025 held in Hanoi.
This year, Vietnam Poetry Day will be held in Hoa Lu city, Ninh Binh province, when the city was just established not long ago and is aiming to become a millennium heritage city, a place containing many unique cultural, historical and landscape values of Vietnam.
In the 22 previous editions, Vietnam Poetry Day has always taken place in the capital city of Hanoi. In 2025, Vietnam Poetry Day will be held in Ninh Binh province to implement the idea and policy of the Vietnam Writers Association to bring National Poetry Day to a wide audience across the country.
According to the organizing committee, in the following years, Vietnam Poetry Day can be held in different localities, depending on the theme of that year.
The 23rd Vietnam Poetry Day took place in the context of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and aiming to celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth, the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification.
The Organizing Committee chose the theme of this year's Poetry Day as "A rising country", inspired by the poem "The Fatherland flies up a bowl of spring" in the poem "Vietnam Standing" by poet and martyr Le Anh Xuan.
Participating in the Poetry Night "The Fatherland flies up" were poets from the resistance generation against the US to save the country; Generations after the national reunification day (1975) to the early years of innovation (2000) and young poets from 2001 to present.
The public will listen to the works of poets: Nguyen Dinh Thi, Nguyen Khoa Diem, Huu Thu, Tran Dang Khoa, Phan Hoang, Nguyen Viet Chien, Tran Kim Hoa, Dinh Thi Nhu Thuy, Binh Nguyen... and post-innovative poets are making an impression on the violin: Nguyen Bao Chan, Nguyen Tien Thanh, Nguyen Quang Hung, Phung Thi Huong Ly...
In addition, there are also poetry recitals: Nguyen Tieu by President Ho Chi Minh, Duc Thuy Son by Truong Han Sieu, Vietnam's Standing Position by Le Anh Xuan, We Fight for You to Live Forever, Oh Vietnam by Nam Ha...
Within the framework of the program, there will be songs set to poems by Vietnamese poets such as: The Road We Travel (poem by Xuan Sach, music by Huy Du), The Fatherland Calls My Name (poem by Nguyen Phan Que Mai, music by Dinh Trung Can)...
In particular, Vietnam Poetry Day 2025 has the participation of American veteran poet Bruce Weagnault with a poem sent to a Vietnamese mother.
Creating a forum for academic exchanges, the Vietnam Writers' Association organized a seminar on the responsibility and aspirations of poets.
As a writer, poets must always have the desire to explore and conquer the artistic horizons that are placed every day, even every hour when sitting in front of white paper. But as a citizen, the writer must show responsibility to the country, people and humanity for progress in the world; because without those things, literary works will not have much meaning.
The Poetry Festival space will display posters of 20 outstanding Vietnamese poets receiving the Ho Chi Minh Prize in Literature and Arts; ancient and modern poems about Ninh Binh.
