Complete biometrics for seamless transactions
Accordingly, from January 1, 2025, bank account holders must complete biometrics if they want to make electronic transactions (online payment transactions, payment of goods/service bills, money transfers, etc.), withdraw cash and transfer money at ATMs, use online payment cards, and make QR code scanning payments. Very familiar daily transactions will be suspended if biometrics are not completed.
This is an improvement compared to the mandatory biometric authentication when transferring money over 10 million VND/transaction and 20 million VND/day according to Decision 2345 of the State Bank, effective from July 1, 2024.
This new regulation aims to completely eliminate bank accounts that are not in the owner’s name, applicable to all transaction values. With the completion of the biometrics addition, customers’ accounts will be more secure and safe.

To avoid transaction interruptions and enhance account and card security, HDBank customers need to complete biometric information supplementation using a chip-embedded ID card.

- Step 2: Take a photo of your valid CCCD with chip and face
- Step 3: Use an NFC device to scan the chip-attached CCCD to complete authentication

As a bank with a large volume of individual customer transactions, many years ago, HDBank also proactively applied biometric authentication using online identification (eKYC) when transacting on the application, from opening an account or logging into the banking application via the registered phone number.
