At 11:35 am on July 26, 2026, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), the Northern Power Project Management Board (NPMB) in coordination with the National Power System and Market Operation Co., Ltd. (NSMO) successfully energized the entire 500/220kV Nho Quan - Phu Ly - Thuong Tin power line project.
This is one of the key power transmission projects in the Northern region.
The project is invested by EVNNPT, NPMB manages and operates on behalf of the investor. After completion, the project is handed over to Power Transmission Company 1 for reception and operation management.
Increase connection of power transmission system
The 500/220kV Nho Quan - Phu Ly - Thuong Tin transmission line is about 80km long, passing through Ninh Binh, Phu Tho provinces and Hanoi City.
The project is built with a scale of 500kV and 220kV mixed power lines, connecting the 500kV Nho Quan Substation, 220kV Phu Ly Substation and the 500kV Thuong Tin Substation.
According to EVNNPT, the project has the task of strengthening the connectivity of the 500kV Nho Quan - Thuong Tin transmission axis, improving voltage quality and increasing power transmission capacity from power sources to the Northern load center.
The project also strengthens the power supply capacity for the 220kV Phu Ly substation, meeting the increasing load demand of Ninh Binh province, Hanoi city and neighboring localities.
The completion of the entire project is of great significance in the context that electricity demand in the North continues to increase. The project contributes to improving the reliability of power supply, increasing flexibility in the operation of 500kV and 220kV power transmission systems.
At the same time, the project helps reduce the risk of full load on some existing power lines, creating conditions for efficient exploitation of power sources in the system.

Construction of many fronts in the final sprint phase
To bring the project to completion, EVNNPT and NPMB have focused on directing contractors to mobilize maximum manpower, vehicles, equipment and organize simultaneous construction throughout the route.
During the implementation process, the project encountered many difficulties, especially compensation, site clearance and route adjustment as requested by the locality.
Many locations of the power line passing through densely populated areas, with houses, architectural works and trees located in the corridor of the route need to be handled.
With the direction of the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the State Steering Committee for important national programs, projects, key energy sector projects and Vietnam Electricity Group, the difficulties and obstacles of the project have been gradually removed.
The coordination of ministries, branches, local authorities and the efforts of the investor and construction participating units have created conditions for the project to be completed according to the set schedule.
In the final sprint phase, construction units organized many working shifts simultaneously, continuously completing the remaining items, ensuring safety for people and equipment.
Supervision consulting units, design consulting, material and equipment supply, Ninh Binh Power Transmission and Hanoi Power Transmission coordinate to handle arising issues during construction, acceptance and energizing.

The completion of energizing the entire 500/220kV Nho Quan - Phu Ly - Thuong Tin power line project contributes to the implementation of Power Plan VIII, ensuring national energy security and meeting socio-economic development needs.
When put into operation, the project will improve the transmission capacity of the national power system, strengthen 500kV grid connection, and at the same time improve the safety, stability and reliability of the power system.
