Cancer - A major challenge posing the requirement to improve the quality of medical diagnosis
Attending the conference were representatives of leaders of the Can Tho City Department of Health, the Vietnam Young Physicians Association, MEDLATEC Health System, and a large number of distinguished delegates, experts, and medical staff at hospitals and health centers in Can Tho City and neighboring provinces across the country.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Quoc Cuong - Director of Can Tho City Department of Health highly appreciated the coordination of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association and MEDLATEC Health System to organize the conference, creating conditions for local medical staff to access new advances in the field of testing, diagnosis and treatment.

Experts update new advances in quality management of testing and cancer diagnosis
The highlight of the conference is two professional reports prepared meticulously and presented by two leading experts in the field of testing and pathology of MEDLATEC.

Opening the report, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thai Son - Former Head of Department cum Head of Microbiology Department, Military Hospital 103, Military Medical Academy; Director of MEDLATEC Testing System presented the report "Role of laboratory quality management".
Starting from the fact that about 70% of doctors' diagnosis, monitoring and treatment decisions are based on test results, experts emphasize that quality management is not simply an requirement to meet international standards such as ISO 15189:2022, but a foundation to ensure accurate, reliable and timely test results, thereby improving patient safety and treatment effectiveness.
Based on analyzing the 12 core components of the laboratory quality management system and practical implementation experience, experts point out that building a quality culture, standardizing processes and continuous improvements are decisive factors to help reduce errors, optimize resources and improve the quality of medical examination and treatment.

Continuing the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. BSCKII Tran Ngoc Dung - Head of Department cum Head of Department of Pathology, Military Medical Academy, Military Hospital 103; MEDLATEC Medical System Pathology Expert brought the report "The role of testing in clinical practice of cancer pathology".
From the reality that Vietnam recorded nearly 183,000 new cancer cases (in 2020), while about 80% of patients were detected at a late stage, experts emphasize the importance of cancer screening and early detection.
This report comprehensively updates the role of modern testing techniques in cancer diagnosis, from screening tests to the application of tumor markers, pathology, immunohistochemistry and molecular biology in definitive diagnosis, prognosis, treatment monitoring and recurrence detection.
In particular, analyses of gene mutation tests in precision medicine bring valuable updated information, showing the increasingly important role of this technique in selecting targeted treatment therapies and individualizing treatment.
MEDLATEC affirms its role in accompanying the local health sector
In addition to accompanying the organization of conferences, the MEDLATEC Health System also actively coordinates with the Can Tho City Department of Health and the Vietnam Young Physicians Association to implement community health care activities.
In the morning of the same day, at Thanh Xuan Commune Health Station, MEDLATEC coordinated to organize medical examinations, health consultations, free medicine distribution and gifts for 200 people in the commune.
According to the plan, on June 28, MEDLATEC will continue to coordinate with the Department and the Vietnam Young Physicians Association to organize medical examination and treatment, health consultation, medicine distribution and free gifts for 200 workers at the Can Tho City stadium.
Previously, based on the cooperation agreement, MEDLATEC coordinated with the Department of Health of Can Tho City to organize many scientific conferences, professional seminars, and community health care programs for local people such as Nhon Ai, Long Phu communes, the City Population and Social Sub-Department... The unit also donated 2,000 free tests, contributing to helping people access modern medical services, detect diseases early and proactively protect their health.
