Attending the meeting, on the side of Son La province, there were Mr. Nguyen Dinh Viet - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and leaders of relevant departments and branches.
On the side of EVNNPT, there were Mr. Nguyen Tuan Tung - Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Pham Le Phu - General Director, Deputy General Directors Nguyen Ngoc Tan, Hoang Van Tuyen, and leaders of the Project Management Boards and the professional departments.

It is necessary to implement key projects soon
EVNNPT General Director Pham Le Phu said: Currently, the power transmission grid serving Son La province includes 3 transformer stations (1 500kV station and 2 220kV stations) with a total capacity of 2,550 MVA, along with 220-500kV power lines to release electricity in the area. Although the system is operating stably, there are still times of congestion and overload, posing a potential risk of unsafe power supply.
To meet the needs of socio-economic development, EVNNPT is urgently implementing 3 important projects: 500kV Son La 1 transformer station and the 500kV connecting line, the 500kV Son La 1 - Son Tay line (all expected to be completed in 2027) and the 220kV Son La - Dien Bien line (completed in 2025).
The 500kV Son La 1 Transformer Station Project (in Mai Son Commune) has a capacity of 1,800MVA, with 2 sections of the connecting line stretching about 10 km through the Mai Son and Yen Chau communes. EVNNPT has worked with the locality to agree on the station location and route direction.
Meanwhile, the 500kV Son La 1 - Son Tay line is about 164 km long, passing through many communes in Moc Chau, Van Ho, Yen Chau, Mai Son districts. The project is in the process of completing the route.
With the 220kV Son La - Dien Bien line, 132.6 km long, the section through Son La is about 67.3 km, the project is under construction but is facing difficulties in compensation and site clearance (BTGPMB).

Requesting local authorities to accompany
EVNNPT Chairman Nguyen Tuan Tung affirmed: Transmission projects in Son La are of great significance in releasing the capacity of existing power sources and new wind power, solar power, and hydropower projects according to the VIII Power Plan. At the same time, these projects will strengthen regional power system connectivity, contributing to ensuring national energy security.
EVNNPT requested the People's Committee of Son La province to direct the Department of Industry and Trade to update projects in the provincial planning, promptly approve station locations and line lines so that EVNNPT has a basis to prepare and submit for approval investment policies. The province also needs to support the provision of planning data and current land use status to serve the work of environmental impact assessment and measurement and counting for BTGPMB.
For the 220kV Son La - Dien Bien transmission line project, EVNNPT hopes that the province will direct departments and branches to coordinate to remove site obstacles, speed up the appraisal of adjusted designs and soon hand over land to complete the project in the first quarter of 2026.
Son La determined to accompany EVNNPT
Vice Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong said that by 2030, the total capacity of the province's power sources is expected to reach about 9,300MW, including hydropower, wind power, solar power and biomass power. Son La strives to become the energy center of the Northwest region, so EVNNPT's investment in major power lines and transformer stations is an important "letster" to release capacity and attract more power source projects.
"Son La province has a lot of experience in coordinating with power transmission investors. We are committed to creating all favorable conditions for EVNNPT's projects to be implemented smoothly and on schedule," Mr. Cong emphasized.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Dinh Viet affirmed: "The province fully supports EVNNPT's policy and hopes that the projects will soon be invested. The early completion of transmission works will help relieve the capacity of power plants, creating momentum to attract investment and develop the local economy".
The Provincial People's Committee assigned Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong as a focal point for direct coordination with EVNNPT; at the same time, requested relevant departments, branches and localities to provide maximum support, ensuring that planning procedures, land and environment are completed soon.
On EVNNPT's side, the Project Management Boards are required to closely coordinate with the commune-level authorities, carry out the work of counting, determining land prices, and paying transparent compensation, so that the projects can be completed on schedule.
