Gold price forecast
The gold market is trading near the highest level in the session, after the Bank of England (BoE) decided to keep interest rates unchanged after the September monetary policy meeting.
In a widely anticipated decision, BoE said on Thursday it would maintain the base interest rate at 3.75%. Even the voting result was in line with expectations, as 3 members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) voted in favor of raising the interest rate by 25 basis points.
The Bank of England admitted that inflationary pressure remains persistent. The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) also noted that most of the inflation increase originated from the war in Iran, causing a significant global energy crisis.
UK CPI inflation has risen to 3.1% in August and is likely to continue to rise in the coming quarters. Monetary policy is being established to bring inflation sustainably down to 2%, while the economy adjusts before the energy shock. The necessary policy stance to achieve this goal will depend on the scale and duration of the shock, as well as how the shock spreads in the economy," the central bank said in its monetary policy statement.
The gold market increased slightly immediately after BoE's latest monetary policy decision and is slightly ahead of the general recovery momentum of the market.
The global market is also recovering quite positively after a sell-off on Wednesday, as the US Federal Reserve (Fed) raised interest rates by 25 basis points and signaled that it could raise interest rates again at the end of the year.
