Russia's large-scale attack simultaneously targeted heavy industry, energy infrastructure and maritime transport routes of Ukraine.

On September 17 (local time), Russian forces launched a large-scale night attack targeting metallurgical facilities, electronics and radio, and locations in the defense industry and energy infrastructure in Kiev, the Zaporozhye region controlled by Ukraine and the Odessa region, the Russian Ministry of Defense said.

According to this agency, the strike was carried out with precision guided weapons launched from the ground, at sea and in the air, combined with drones. The targets included both energy and transport infrastructure, along with ships supporting the Ukrainian army.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said that the attacks in Kiev and the surrounding area hit a facility producing and storing many types of unmanned aerial vehicles, including RAX-2X medium-range UAVs, and a drone manufacturing facility operated by Pegasus Arms, which manufactures and stores long-range and medium-range fixed-wing UAVs.

The attacks also targeted an industrial facility producing components for long-range and medium-range unmanned aerial vehicles and preparing ground robot systems for use.

Russian forces also raided the De Novo data center, which operates server equipment for military purposes, processing, transmitting and storing data - including intelligence data - for the Ukrainian army. The Brovary energy storage facility in the Kiev region, which continuously supplies electricity to military sites, is also on the target list.

In the Zaporozhye region, the Zaporozhstal steel mill - a key facility of the Ukrainian metallurgical industry specializing in producing cast iron and rolled steel to serve domestic and European defense enterprises - was hit.

In the Odessa region, Russia announced that it had hit a bulk cargo ship at Chernomorsk port that was transporting military goods, along with another bulk cargo ship moving at sea 11km east of Odessa, carrying military goods to the port of Odessa. The Artsyz substation, an electricity supply facility for Izmail port, was also attacked.

Two road bridges across the Dniester River near the Mayaki residential area are on the target list, with the reason given that they serve the transportation of military goods from Romania and Izmail port.
