Gold price forecast
With an increase of more than 1% in the world gold market, the current developments show that gold is having a remarkable recovery after a sharp decline after the Fed meeting. However, this is not necessarily a signal confirming a return to the upward trend.
Gold prices are showing a fairly good ability to absorb the shock from the Fed's decision. The Fed is raising interest rates by 25 basis points to 3.75-4%, while new forecasts show that most officials are still leaning towards at least another increase in 2026. The Fed also emphasized that inflation is still high and needs to be brought back to the 2% target.
Immediately after the decision and tough statements by Chairman Kevin Warsh, gold once fell sharply. However, the precious metal recovered as the USD weakened and oil prices cooled down.
The noteworthy point is that the Fed has increased interest rates but gold has not continued to plummet. This shows that the negative impact from monetary policy may have been significantly reflected in prices before the meeting.
With the current level above 4,300 USD/ounce, gold has returned above the important milestone after a period of deep decline.
This is a positive sign in the short term, but it is necessary to distinguish between a technical recovery and a new upward trend.
If gold maintains above 4,300 USD/ounce and continues to surpass the resistance zones above, buying power may bring the price back to the 4,400 USD/ounce zone. Further, the 4,500 USD/ounce zone will be a noteworthy milestone if the USD and bond yields both cool down.
Conversely, if the price does not hold 4,300 USD/ounce, the current recovery is at risk of weakening and gold may return to test lower support zones.
