Gen Z struggles with the first 100 million VND, experts reveal how to invest profitably

With the first 100 million VND, many Gen Z choose to deposit savings, buy gold or invest. Experts suggest how to divide money into suitable "pots".

Hesitant about investment and savings channels

After a year of stepping into the labor market, Le Bao Linh (23 years old, Hanoi) saved the first 100 million VND.

Looking back at my savings account now, I feel quite proud of myself, wanting to keep this milestone. To get the first 100 million VND, I diligently earned more from many jobs when I was a student," Linh shared.

Sharing about allocating the first savings in her life, Linh said: "In those days, I divided it up to buy gold, deposit savings and put it in the God of Wealth pocket of a profitable application. As a young person, I don't have much knowledge, I just remember my grandfather's advice, how much I have should be accumulated, I shouldn't wait. Even half a tael of gold is bought to train the habit of saving".

Meanwhile, thanks to online Korean tutoring and full-time office work, Vu Thi Nhu (25 years old, Hanoi) has held 100 million VND.

To get the above amount of money, I accepted to tutor 5 friends online. Although working all day and coming home tired, I don't have much time for myself, but tutoring helps me maintain my foreign language skills. I will send 50 million VND to the bank to make a 6-month reserve fund, and the remaining 40 million VND will be used to buy 2 taels of gold. The remaining 10 million VND I will continue to accumulate," Nhu said.

As for Le Thuy Trang (24 years old, Da Nang), having 126 million VND in hand at a fairly young age is not easy.

I didn't ask my parents, so when I opened a dress rental shop with an older sister, it was quite difficult at first. Many times I couldn't ask anyone for help, I had to carry heavy things myself, paint the walls myself. Perhaps because I liked it, passion, I didn't give up," Trang expressed.

With this amount of money, Trang is hesitant about allocating it to both invest and save.

Trang proposed a plan, sending 100 million VND into a savings book, leaving the rest for provision and gradually accumulating to buy gold in the following months.

Divide 100 million VND into "jars

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy - CEO of the Faculty of Finance - Banking, Nguyen Trai University, advises on smart investment methods for young people.

According to him, with the first 100 million VND, young people should deduct it into different investment "pots". First of all, at least 10% of the money should be used to study more courses on financial investment skills, leadership thinking or using AI in learning and work.

The next 30% should be used for term savings, 15% for investing in stocks or fund certificates (ETFs) in fields such as banking, technology, infrastructure... Next, 25% is used to invest in gold, 15% for investment in silver.

With the remaining 5%, young people should aim for community charity activities. According to Mr. Huy, this helps young people connect, send love, and expand their network of relationships and get to know more people.
