In a dilapidated, dilapidated house located deep in Mai Dam town, Chau Thanh district, Hau Giang province, the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu (52 years old) is struggling with the difficulties every day. Not only did he suffer from illness when all three pillars - his wife, husband and son all suffered from serious heart problems. Not only that, they also have to live in a state of serious deterioration of their houses, not enough to cover the rain and sun.

"My family is poor, my husband had a heart surgery in 2019, and had a stent setup, so we no longer have the strength to work. Every month, he has to go for a check-up and get medicine at a hospital in Can Tho city. I have a heart valve, and so do my son. The whole family of 5 people, 3 of them have heart disease, Ms. Thu confided.

The rusty, dilapidated corrugated iron sheets, rotten wooden pillars, and moist soil are the houses where Ms. Thu's family has lived for the past 13 years. "When it rains, it leaks, I don't dare sleep because I'm afraid of collapsing, when it's summer, it's hot, when the flood season comes, the water floods into the house. It's so miserable!, Ms. Thu said sadly.

The economic burden fell on her shoulders, the only person with a stable income from working as a worker. Ms. Thu shared that she earns about 5-6 million VND per month, taking care of her medicine and eating out, not to mention the surplus.
The disadvantage did not stop there, when last year, her son was tricked into going abroad and suffered both physical and mental damage. Fortunately, her son was rescued, but his poor health and unstable work made the family's burden even more serious.

More heartbreakingly, the dilapidated and unsafe house forced the couple to send their grandchild to the maternal home in Vinh Long province.
"The house is so dilapidated, the child cannot live there yet, he is very poor. After long missed him, my husband and I took the opportunity to drive back to visit him. My family's biggest dream is to have a new house to welcome my grandchild home, the whole family can gather together," Ms. Thu said choking up.
Mr. Vo Van Hien - Chairman of the Trade Union of Industrial Parks of Hau Giang province - informed that during this year's Workers' Month, the unit has implemented the "Union Shelter" program to support union members with difficult housing circumstances.

Regarding Ms. Thu's family, Mr. Vo Van Hien said that when surveyed, her circumstances were very difficult. "I could not contain my emotions when I saw her family situation. A family is in a difficult situation as all three of them have heart disease, and live in a super-difficult house. I did not think that at this time, there would still be families living on the land, and the houses would be dilapidated, said the Chairman of the Trade Union of Industrial Parks of Hau Giang province emotionally.
Mr. Vo Van Hien added that with the desire to help Ms. Thu, the Trade Union has made efforts to mobilize benefactors and proposed that the Hau Giang Provincial Labor Federation support 60 million VND, 10 million VND higher than the usual support level.
At the same time, the Trade Union has directed grassroots trade unions to coordinate with business leaders to award many shelters, including "Trade Union Shelters", "Love Shelters" .... Thanks to the join hands of businesses, there are about 10 houses awarded. Particularly, the Trade Union received the support from the provincial Labor Federation for 7 units, along with a special apartment for Ms. Thu, bringing the total number of home to 8 units.
The Chairman of the Trade Union of Industrial Parks of Hau Giang province stated that in the near future, the unit will mobilize business leaders to pay more attention to union members and workers with real housing difficulties.
