In a small house in Quang Trung village, Tan Minh commune, the life of Mrs. Dang Thi Huong's family (born in 1958) is always filled with many worries. In her old age, when many people have rested with their children and grandchildren, Mrs. Huong still has to work hard in the fields every day to have money to cover living expenses and take care of sick relatives.
Mrs. Huong's life continuously suffered many upheavals. She and her husband had three children. The eldest son went to work far away, and the economy was not well-off, so it was difficult to have conditions to support his parents. The second son unfortunately suffered from a serious illness from a young age, was bedridden for more than 30 years and passed away in 2017. The pain had not yet subsided when just one year later, her youngest daughter had a traffic accident and passed away, leaving behind a young son who was not yet 2 years old.
Mentioning her orphaned grandchild, Mrs. Huong could not hold back her tears: "My daughter works as a worker, because the paternal family did not recognize her, so she struggled to raise her young child alone. On that fateful day, when my daughter went to work in the night shift, on the way back, when only about 2km from home, she had an accident and did not survive. When my daughter died, Duc Anh was not yet 2 years old. In the early days, every time she cried for her mother, the couple both felt sorry for her and sorry for her.

The tragedy did not stop. In 2019, Ms. Huong's husband, Mr. Tran Van Toan, was diagnosed with stage 3 nasopharyngeal cancer. Since then, Mr. Toan has had to undergo many treatment courses, his health has declined and he no longer has the ability to work. Expensive treatment costs quickly put the family's economy in dire straits.
Previously, Mr. Toan did many jobs such as tractor driver, construction worker to support his family, but since he fell ill, all burdens fell on Mrs. Huong's shoulders. Although she is old and has bone and joint diseases, she still has to work in the fields, working as a hired laborer to have money to pay for medicine for her husband and raise her grandchildren to study.
The cost of treatment for my husband has been prolonged, causing the family to borrow nearly 400 million VND. Many times, looking at my husband seriously ill and my young grandchild still young, I can only silently wipe away my tears and continue working, hoping to be able to take care of the family to get through the day," Ms. Huong choked up.
According to Mr. Vu Xuan Dieu - Secretary of Quang Trung Village Party Cell, Ms. Huong's family is in difficult circumstances, she alone takes care of her husband with cancer and young grandchildren. Since her husband contracted a serious illness, expensive treatment has made the family's economy increasingly difficult.
To help Ms. Huong's family overcome difficulties, we really hope philanthropists will join hands to support and help the family," Mr. Dieu said.
