After the flood caused by storm Matmo, more than 3km of the road leading to Mr. Hoang Minh Duong's house (45 years old, living in Trai Moi village, Dong Ky commune, Bac Ninh) was bumpy and muddy.
"The road is too difficult, you guys sympathize. The flood has been flooded for more than a week, only receding for a few days. The day before, the water was more than half the house, the family only had time to hug the incense burner of their two children and then ran to the hill to take refuge. Some of the furniture in the house was lost, some were broken, Mr. Duong confusedly explained to the customer.
Mr. Duong's family is in difficult circumstances, and he himself lost his ability to work after 3 accidental fractures.
His wife, Ms. Chu Thi Le (43 years old), is being treated for a breast fibroid tumor.
Mr. Duong's eldest son, Hoang Minh Lam (25 years old) and daughter-in-law, Ly Thi Bich Diep (21 years old), are both workers at Luxshare-ICT Company Limited (Van Trung Industrial Park) Bac Ninh.
In the early morning of September 8, the rented room of Mr. Lam and his wife in My Dien residential group, Nenh ward (Bac Ninh province) suddenly exploded for unknown reasons, two people died on the spot.
After the accident, Mr. Duong and his wife brought their children's bodies home to attend a funeral, costing more than 100 million VND. The 1-year-old nephew also moved in with his grandparents.
The situation was already difficult, and she became more and more miserable. Although Ms. Le's health was not good, she was forced to work for hire in a sawing workshop near her home, earning 5 million VND per month in wages to raise her children.
Mr. Lam's younger brother is only 17 years old but also decided to drop out of school and work to help his family.
"My children have all gone to work to take care of their grandchildren, and have not had any extra. The accident occurred, the family was supported by the Bac Ninh Provincial Labor Federation, colleagues and the company with more than 60 million VND. My husband and I dug all the money in the house and had to borrow an additional 20 million VND to take care of the funeral arrangements for our two children. Now my child and I go to work, but it is only enough to eat and spend," said Ms. Le.
In the cramped house with floodwaters still printed all over the walls, the simple altar of Mr. Lam and his wife was placed on one side, and the beds of Mr. Duong and Mrs. Le were located right opposite.
Sitting in the grandmother's hand, the child still smiled loudly. At one point, the boy pointed to his parents' altar, asking her to give him the offered fruit. The innocentness of children makes adults feel heartbroken.
"My son and daughter-in-law are not only the main breadwinners, but also the support and comfort of my husband and I. The children died, my wife and I were in decline, and our health was also weak, but we still had to work to raise them, said Mrs. Le, putting her hand to tears.
Visiting Mr. Duong's house with reporters, Chairman of the Trade Union of Luxshare-ICT Company (Van Trung Industrial Park) Bui Van Truong said that Mr. Lam and his wife are all hard-working, hardworking and creative workers.
Working well, being well-respected by superiors and colleagues, Mr. Lam was assigned to be the main setter, and Ms. Diep was also arranged as a deputy setter.
"Mr. Lam's family's accident is a regrettable thing for the company, and his colleagues have all expressed their grief. After the incident, the company and colleagues supported Mr. Duong's family with a sum of money and arranged the funeral for Mr. Lam and his wife," said the Chairman of the Trade Union of Luxshare-ICT Company.
Ms. Huong Thi Huyen, Head of Trai Moi Village, confirmed that Mr. Duong's family is in difficult circumstances in the locality. The village has decided to include the situation in the list of poor households next year, so that Mr. Duong and his wife and young children can enjoy the state's support policies.
