Da Nang City Police have just cracked down on a case of growing, storing, and trading marijuana on the largest scale ever in the city.
Accordingly, at about 5 pm on January 19, the task force of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Da Nang City Police in coordination with Cam Le Ward Police conducted an inspection of a house at No. 745 Truong Chinh (Cam Le ward).
At the time of inspection, functional forces discovered Do Huu Duy (born 2003, residing in Cam Le ward) in the act of dividing marijuana with a quantity of nearly 8kg.
Continuing to inspect the room behind the house, the police force discovered 51 cannabis plants being grown here, arranged in a closed space with lighting and watering systems to serve the planting and care of cannabis plants.
Expanding the investigation, subject Do Huu Duy confessed that in addition to the above location, he also rented and organized cannabis cultivation at house number 201 Cach Mang Thang Tam (Cam Le ward).
Also in January 2026, Quang Truc Commune Police (Lam Dong province) informed about the initiation of a case and prosecution of Vo Dang Phuong (33 years old, residing in Tuy Duc commune) to investigate the act of illegally growing marijuana. Currently, the defendant is being subject to preventive measures, prohibiting him from leaving his place of residence to serve the investigation.
Previously, by professional measures, the police force suddenly raided plot 45, plot 5, Sub-area 1488. Here, a cannabis growing area appeared in the deep forest with an area of about 300m2.
Through counting, functional forces discovered a total of 763 good green cannabis plants. Of which, 725 plants were carefully cared for in plastic pots (from 30cm to 1.7m high) and 38 plants were planted directly in the ground.
According to current regulations, subjects who plant trees containing narcotics will be heavily fined. In which Article 30 of Decree No. 282/2025/ND-CP states violations of regulations on drug prevention, control and control as follows:
- A warning or a fine of between 1,000,000 VND and 2,000,000 VND shall be imposed for one of the following acts:
Illegally using drugs but not being prosecuted for criminal liability;
Discriminating against illegal drug users, drug addicts, and drug addicts after drug rehabilitation.
- A fine of between VND 2,000,000 and VND 5,000,000 shall be imposed for one of the following acts:
Illegally possessing, transporting or appropriating drugs but not to the extent of criminal prosecution;
Appropriating precursors used for illegal drug production but not to the extent of criminal prosecution;
Producing, storing, transporting, buying and selling means and tools used for the production or illegal use of narcotics but not to the extent of criminal prosecution.
- A fine of between VND 5,000,000,000 and VND 10,000,000,000 shall be imposed for the act of planting trees containing narcotics or guiding planting trees containing narcotics.
- A fine of between VND 10,000,000 and VND 20,000,000 shall be imposed for one of the following acts:
Brokering, assisting or other acts of helping others illegally use drugs;
Resist or obstruct drug testing in the body, determine drug addiction status, manage illegal drug users, drug detoxification, post-drug detoxification management.
