Bonus level for soldiers awarded the glorious Soldier Medal from July 2025

The Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:

Clause 2, Article 54 of the 2022 Law on Emulation and Commendation stipulates that Medals include:

a) The Victory Flag Medal;

b) "Medicine for National Security";

c) "Great Soldier Medal" First, Second, Third Class;

d) Friendship Medal.

Clause 1, Article 57 of the Law on Emulation and Commendation 2022 stipulates: "Great Soldier Medal" to be awarded or posthumously awarded to soldiers, workers, civil servants, and defense officials of the People's Army; officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, and workers working in agencies and units under the People's Public Security who have successfully completed their assigned tasks.

Clause 2, Article 57 of the Law on Emulation and Commendation 2022 stipulates the Standards for awarding or posthumously awarding "Great Soldier Medal" to individuals as prescribed in Clause 1 of this Article as follows:

a) The First Class "Great Soldier Medal" is awarded or posthumously awarded to individuals with a continuous working process of 20 years or more;

b) The Second Class "Great Soldier Medal" is awarded or posthumously awarded to individuals with a continuous working process of 15 years to less than 20 years;

c) The Third Class "Great Soldier Medal" is awarded or posthumously awarded to individuals with a continuous working process of 10 years to less than 15 years.

Article 55 of Decree 152/2025/ND-CP (effective from July 1, 2025) stipulates the level of Medal bonuses as follows: Individuals awarded or posthumously awarded Medals are specified in Clause 2, Article 54 of the Law on Emulation and Commendation, are awarded a Certificate, frame, Medal, Medal container and are awarded 1.5 times the basic salary.

According to Decree 73/2024/ND-CP, the current basic salary is 2,340,000 VND/month.

Thus, from July 1, 2025, if a soldier is awarded the Glorious Soldier Medal, he/she will be awarded VND 3,510,000 (VND 2,340,000 x 1.5) according to the above regulations.
