The Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:

Article 6, Circular 56/2025/TT-BQP of the Ministry of National Defense stipulates the annual leave regime as follows:

1. Soldiers, workers and defense officials are entitled to annual leave, the leave period corresponds to the number of years of service as follows:

a) Less than 15 years of service: 20 days off;

b) From 15 years to less than 25 years of service: 25 days off;

c) After 25 years of service or more: 30 days off.

2. Soldiers, workers and defense officials stationed in units far from the place of retirement registration (where the husband or wife resides; biological children, legally adopted children; father, mother, legal guardian of themselves, of the wife or husband), on annual leave are entitled to additional leave:

a) 10 days for one of the following cases:

The unit is located 500 km or more from the place of registration for leave;

Deploying in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions; remote areas, border areas 300 km or more from the place of retirement registration.

Stationed on islands in the Truong Sa archipelago and DK Corps.

b) 05 days for one of the following cases:

The unit is located 300 km to less than 500 km from the place of registration for leave;

Camp in remote areas, border areas from 200 km to less than 300 km from the place of retirement registration.

Stationed on islands receiving regional allowances.

3. Every year, agencies and units from the regimental level and above are responsible for planning leave for soldiers, workers and defense officials; based on the nature and requirements of the unit to determine the appropriate leave rate, ensure combat readiness and complete assigned tasks. Academics and schools arrange for soldiers, workers and defense officials to take leave, mainly during the summer vacation.

Thus, the leave regime for officers and defense soldiers is regulated as above.
