Regulations on household electricity purchase and sale contracts from February 2025

Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:

Clause 3, Article 44 of the Electricity Law 2024, effective from February 1, 2025, stipulates that electricity purchase and sale contracts for domestic purposes must have the following main contents:

a) Information of the parties to the contract includes: name, address, phone number, other contact methods (if any);

b) Standards, service quality and electricity usage address;

c) Retail electricity price, payment method and term;

d) Rights and obligations of the parties;

d) Responsibility to protect information of the electricity buyer;

e) Cases of termination of contract performance and liabilities arising from termination of contract performance;

g) In case of force majeure as prescribed by civil law;

h) Dispute resolution methods;

i) Time of contract conclusion, term of contract;

k) Agreement on penalties for violations;

l) Other contents agreed upon by both parties.

Thus, the contract for the purchase and sale of electricity for domestic purposes is regulated as above.
