In 2024, the entrance quality assurance threshold (bank point) of the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) is based on the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test scores from 600/1,200 points.
The 2024 high school graduation exam score is from 18/30 points (total score of 3 subjects according to the admission combination) and the high school academic score is from 54/90 points (total score of 3 subjects according to the admission combination in 3 years of high school).

Previously, in 2023, the threshold for admission to a regular university application was according to "Method 5: Admission combined with many criteria" for the following components:
Competency Assessment Test Score - Ho Chi Minh City National University: 630/1,200 points.
High school graduation exam scores: 18/30 points (total score of 3 subjects calculated according to the admission combination).
High school academic performance score (according to academic records): 18/30 points.
The thresholds for receiving documents (bank points) have included priority points for subjects and areas according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

In 2025, the University of Technology (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) will apply a comprehensive admission method for the majority of candidates along with a direct admission method according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the regulations of the school.
In particular, the direct admission method according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the regulations of the school only accounts for 1-5% of the total target. The comprehensive admission method includes criteria on academic performance, other abilities, and social activities accounting for 95-99% of the total target.
The admission formula includes academic performance scores and priority scores. In which, academic performance scores include competency score factors (accounting for 70%), converted high school graduation score (accounting for 20%) and converted high school learning score (accounting for 10%). Priority points include achievements (photo - aesthetics, social activities, other achievements) and the target area. Notably, this method is calculated by the school on a scale of 100. The floor score is 50 points.
