According to statistics, in 2026, nearly 60,000 candidates registered to take the thinking assessment (TSA) exam. After 3 exam phases, only 13 candidates achieved over 90 points, 175 candidates achieved over 80 points and 1,577 candidates achieved over 70 points. The average score for 2026 is 54.96/100.
The highest score of 2026 is 98.98/100, belonging to Nguyen Tuan Dat, a 12A1 student, Vinh Bao High School (Hai Phong). This is also a record score ever.
Considering the 3rd exam phase taking place on May 16-17, there are more than 22,000 registered candidates. The exam is organized at the same time at 32 exam sites in Hanoi and 11 other provinces and cities including Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Son La, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Da Nang.
The highest score of phase 3 in 2026 is 93.76/100. The valedictorian of phase 3 this year comes from Ninh Giang High School, Hai Phong.
There are 6 candidates achieving over 90 points; 83 candidates achieving over 80 points; 878 candidates achieving over 70 points. The average score of phase 3 in 2026 is 53.17/100.

The TSA exam consists of 3 parts: Mathematical Thinking (60 minutes), Reading Comprehension Thinking (30 minutes) and Science/Problem Solving Thinking (60 minutes). The maximum score is 100.
These are 3 independent parts of the exam, the exam questions will focus on assessing the thinking ability of candidates in each part of the exam, not going into direct testing of knowledge of any subject. The form of the exam is computer-based multiple-choice test, the exam results will be valid for 2 years to serve university admissions.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology will issue exam result certificates to candidates in electronic digital form and be sent directly to the candidate's exam registration account on the system.
Candidates can use this electronic certificate to apply for university admission. If candidates want to receive a printed certificate, they must register on the system.
The results of the thinking test are used by more than 50 schools in the university admission process this 2026 enrollment season.
