Up to now, Departments of Education and Training have updated the plan to organize the 10th grade high school entrance exam for the 2026 - 2027 school year. The exam of provinces and cities nationwide is expected to take place from the end of May to the beginning of July, depending on the plan of each locality.
In Hanoi, the exam takes place on two days, May 30 and 31. Exam candidates take exams in three subjects: Math, Literature and Foreign Language (mainly English).
Students taking exams at one of the four specialized schools Hanoi - Amsterdam, Nguyen Hue, Chu Van An, Son Tay will take additional specialized subjects on June 1.
In Quang Ninh, according to the plan from the beginning of the school year, the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026 - 2027 school year in Quang Ninh is expected to take place from July 3-5, 2026.
However, there is a change in the time to avoid affecting the high school exam, the Quang Ninh Department of Education and Training requests schools to get opinions from 9th grade students and parents on the time when the entrance exam for 10th grade can be organized.
There are 2 new expected timelines for students and parents to choose from: from May 27 - 29, 2026 and from June 23 - 25, 2026.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training sent a report to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the entrance exam date for 10th grade in the 2026 - 2027 school year.
According to the Department of Education and Training, in order to ensure the completion time of the curriculum and prepare well for the plan to mobilize children to go to class, enroll in the first grades of the 2026 - 2027 school year, it is proposed to organize the exam in two days, June 1 and 2. 2026.

Previously, many localities announced the 3rd exam subject in the 2026 10th grade high school entrance exam. Many localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Da Nang, Hue, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Can Tho, Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Dong Thap... all chose the third exam subject as Foreign Language or English.
