According to statistics on Box Office Vietnam, as of the morning of March 5, Huynh Lap's film "House of Ancestors" exceeded the 200 billion VND mark. The work achieved this achievement after two weeks of release.
This is the third Vietnamese film to have a revenue of over 200 billion VND, since the beginning of the year, after "The Four Guardians" (Tran Thanh) and "The billion-dollar kiss" (Thu Trang). Currently, the screening of "House of Ancestors" has decreased to nearly 3,000/day, giving way to "Quy Nhap Trang" (Nhat Trung).
Previously, the film "The Four Guardians" by Tran Thanh was released on the occasion of Lunar New Year along with "The billion-dollar kiss" by Thu Trang. After the screening time, Tran Thanh's project earned 331 billion VND, while Thu Trang's film earned 210 billion VND.
Thus, after just over the first 2 months of 2025, Vietnamese cinema has had 3 films reaching the 200 billion VND mark.
Currently, "The Devil In The insides" is the next film to be released in theaters. The film is currently at the top 1 box office (as of the morning of March 5, according to Box Office Vietnam). Many experts predict that "The Devil In The insides" could join the hundred-billion-dong club of Vietnamese cinema in 2025.
"House of Ancestors" is Huynh Lap's second film as a director, after 6 years. The film takes advantage of spiritual and cultural materials that have been popular recently.
Many cultural features of the Western region are interwoven in a timely manner, combining traditional cultural elements when emphasizing the role of ancestors, family and blood relatives, helping Huynh Lap's films become closer to the majority.
