On the afternoon of March 19, the Standing Committee of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee met and listened to the Party Committees of the Provincial Party agencies report on the draft to give comments on the Project to reorganize the Vietnam Fatherland Front and associations and unions. The Standing Committee of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee also listened to comments, discussed, and proposed to the Central Government on the location of the administrative center and the name of the new province - city after the merger of the two localities of Quang Nam and Da Nang City according to the Central Government's policy.
At the meeting, the Standing Committee of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee noted and gave opinions suggesting that the Central Government name Quang Nam City - Da Nang to name the new administrative unit after the merger.
This is the wish of the majority of people, Party members, of many classes, many generations in Quang Nam... based on historical, cultural and traditional bases.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province Le Van Dung said: "Da Nang is a young city, a strong and impressive international brand, representing the future development direction that needs to be promoted. However, Quang Nam is a nearly 450-year-old name, the "cradle" of the national language, has 2 cultural heritages, and has Hoi An city - also a strong international brand. In particular, the rich history, culture and traditions of Quang Nam are recorded from the early stages, to the anti-charging movement, Duy Tan movement, associated with the soldiers Phan Chu Trinh and Huynh Thuc Khang. After having the Party, Quang Nam is also a land "mentfully resiliently taking the lead..." Therefore, the name of the new city - directly under the Central Government is Quang Nam - Da Nang, both inherited and aiming for a rapid and sustainable development future. That is a reasonable proposal".
Regarding the location of the new administrative center, according to Mr. Dung, there are many different opinions. In particular, many opinions suggested placing the new city's administrative center after the merger in Da Nang City - the economic, educational, and scientific center...
This proposal is reasonable. This will also avoid waste when having to build a new headquarters... But there are also many opinions that a new center should be located in Thang Binh district (Quang Nam) with the following reasons:
If the new administrative center in Thang Binh district is a medium-sized road - the intermediate point of the two localities of Da Nang and Quang Nam, it will be convenient for cadres, people and businesses in their work. Create conditions for another development pole alongside the urban areas of Da Nang, Chu Lai, Tam Ky, Hoi An.
Setting a new center in Thang Binh may be costly because it will build many new headquarters and infrastructure, but will avoid weaknesses in infrastructure overload and flooding, and will be safer for the city's political center. Setting a new administrative center away from the crowded urban area is also one of the Government's instructions...
However, all are just opinions and proposals from one side of Quang Nam.
