The Provincial General Museum, Facility 1 in Cam Thanh Ward, Quang Ngai Province, was completed in 2003. In 2007, the Museum officially opened to serve people and tourists to visit, learn, research science, culture and history... After a long time of operation but has not been invested in or upgraded, many items of the museum have seriously degraded and damaged.

According to the reporter's records at the Provincial General Museum, facility 1, some items outside such as stone walls and brick floors were broken. The corrugated iron roof of the Museum is rusty and rotten in many places. Many walls and exhibition stands inside the Museum are peeling and leaking, causing mold and dirt. The area displaying artifacts, images, and documents on the 2nd floor of the Museum is currently closed and not welcoming visitors because the items are severely damaged.
Mr. Nguyen Kim Son - Head of the General Administration Department, Quang Ngai General Museum said: "The Museum has many very valuable documents, and there are national treasures. Compared to other provincial museums, we are much better, but we are behind in terms of facilities.
The Provincial General Museum, Facility 1, was built in a campus with a total area of over 30,000 m2. This is a place to preserve and display over 20,000 artifacts, over 6,500 valuable documents and images. Each year, the Museum welcomes about 70,000 visitors. The serious deterioration after 22 years of construction is a major barrier for the Museum to promote its role as a space for display, preservation and promotion of the value of treasures that are at risk of fading over time.

The 13th Provincial People's Council issued Resolution No. 50 dated September 27, 2024 on the expected Medium-term Public Investment Plan for the period 2026 - 2030. In particular, Quang Ngai province will invest in building a new Provincial General Museum and Library, in order to develop a more modern and spacious cultural institution of the province, combining the Provincial Convention and Exhibition Center into the center of activities and organization of cultural events of the province.
Mr. Phan Van Hoang - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province said: "We hope that in the coming time, there will be direction from the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee, People's Council as well as relevant levels and sectors to soon build the Provincial General Museum as well as the Provincial Library, with the aim of introducing the values of local cultural heritage, historical and cultural values, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province".
