Previously, information appeared on social networks that the California Supreme Court, Orange County, postponed the hearing of the lawsuit between Gerard Richard Williams and Dam Vinh Hung from July 7 to September 22.
Before this information, singer Bich Tuyen responded to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper. She said that she has not yet received official information from the court about the postponement of the hearing on July 7.
According to singer Bich Tuyen, her lawyer shared that the hearing will still take place on July 7 in accordance with the court's regulations and there has been no change.
"On July 7, the lawyers of both my husband and Dam Vinh Hung will be required to appear in court. The court did not allow a delay. The information that the court postponed until September was untrue. Everyone please wait until July 7 to know more new information," said singer Bich Tuyen.
When asked by reporters whether September 22 was the first hearing in the lawsuit between her husband (Mr. Gerard Richard Williams) and Dam Vinh Hung, singer Bich Tuyen said that September 22 was just an assessment and consideration of the case from the court, not the official day of the first hearing.
To date, Mr. Gerard Richard Williams's legal team has a total of 6 members, including 1 Vietnamese-American female lawyer. After changing lawyers, the legal representative of singer Dam Vinh Hung in the lawsuit demanding Mr. Gerard 50 million USD is currently lawyer Tu Huy Hoang.
On January 22, singer Dam Vinh Hung submitted a request to return 465.5 USD (equivalent to 11.8 million VND), including the fee for submission, the fee for requesting a trial and the fee for electronic services, ... because the two lawsuits of both parties have been merged into one case.
Previously, on November 4, 2024, the California Supreme Court, Orange County, accepted Dam Vinh Hung's lawsuit demanding 50 million USD. In early December 2024, Dam Vinh Hung suddenly submitted a request to withdraw the lawsuit.
After that, singer Bich Tuyen's husband counter-sued Dam Vinh Hung, demanding compensation of 1 USD and an official apology.
For his part, Dam Vinh Hung changed the representative lawyer and withdrew the request to cancel the lawsuit. The lawsuit between the two parties is still in the process of legal preparation.
