Recently, Star News and Gallup Korea conducted a survey to select the most popular boy/girl group of the 21st century. This survey was conducted on 1052 people aged 19 to 69 in Korea.
In the boy band rankings, BTS leads with 74% of the votes.
Notably, the percentage of men and women voting for BTS was equal, at 74%. BTS also received high percentages of votes from many age groups: 19-29 years old (67%), 30 years old (66%), 40 years old (76%), 50 years old (83%) and 60 years old (74%).
This shows that the boy band of HYBE Group has conquered almost every Korean audience, regardless of gender or age.
According to Star News, BTS is the boy band that is raising the status of Kpop, not only the most famous in Korea but also in the global music market.
BTS has always been able to sweep domestic music charts with each album. They also set a series of records on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and other international charts.
In 2021, BTS became the first Asian artist to win the grand prize "Artist of the Year" at the American Music Awards - one of the four biggest music awards ceremonies in the US.
The remaining positions in the Top 10 most popular boy bands of the 21st century are all groups of the 2nd and 3rd generations.
Big Bang ranked 2nd with 33% of the votes. Super Junior ranked 3rd with 15%. TVXQ and EXO ranked 4th and 5th with 14% and 13% respectively. Ranks 6 to 10 belonged to Seventeen (8%), SHINee (7%), 2PM (5%), NCT (4%) and Wanna One (4%) respectively.
The results of the Girl Group vote showed that SNSD and Blackpink tied for first place, with 42% of the votes.
