It is known that Hamilton will take on the role of director for the program "BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG", scheduled to take place at 8:00 PM on March 21, at Gwanghwamun Square (Seoul). The performance is considered one of the most notable live music events of the year, marking BTS's long-awaited comeback.
Hamish Hamilton is a famous British director with experience in staging many international-scale programs. He directed the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, along with many prestigious awards ceremonies such as the Oscars, Grammys and Emmy Awards. Last year, Hamilton continued to attract attention when he stood behind the Super Bowl performance of the NFL. His participation in this project is expected to raise the scale and visual experience for the audience.
The performance will be broadcast live on Netflix to more than 190 countries and territories, showing the ambition to turn the event into a global stage. It is expected that tens of thousands of fans will gather in the event area. Faced with this large scale, the Seoul Metropolitan Government said it will activate a safety control and disaster response center to monitor the density of the crowd in real time. Other support measures include strengthening public transport, controlling regional order and broadcasting safety messages in multiple languages to serve international guests.
In parallel with the concert, BTS's fifth studio album "ARIRANG" is scheduled to be released one day earlier. According to BigHit Music, as of February 4, the album has surpassed the 3 million pre-orders mark on the online platform in less than three weeks of announcement. This number reflects BTS's global heat as well as great expectations for their comeback.
