The romantic comedy Surely Tomorrow revolves around the couple Lee Gyeong Do (Park Seo Joon) and Seo Ji Woo (Won Ji An).
They first met at the age of 20 at a drama club and developed feelings for each other but broke up later. 8 years later, the two dated again but continued to be apart.
Many years later, they meet again - when Gyeong Do is a reporter reporting an affair scandal and Ji Woo is the wife of the man at the center of the incident.
Sharing about the work, director Im Hyun Wook - who is famous for the films "My Swallow" and "The gia Hotel" said that as soon as he read the script, his mouth smiled but his eyes were stunned.
This is a rare romance story that is both humorous, exciting, and heartbreaking. Thats why I immediately thought, These emotions have to be recreated on screen.
I believe that the core element of romance is to create the right type of vibration that matches the unique color of the story.
Therefore, this project is not just a normal romance story for me, but it is like reviewing the emotional trajectory that I have built throughout my directing career.
The director added that for Surely Tomorrow, his biggest challenge was finding a way to visibly express the emotions between the characters.
If we count the actual time Lee Gyeong Do and Seo Ji Woo have been together for nearly two decades, that number is less than even a year.
But that short period of time was enough to shake their fate. So instead of dividing their story into three separate stages, I want it to feel like a continuous flow of emotions.
To clearly distinguish each period in the character's relationship, the director emphasized their appearance: a Gyeong Do as an immutable axis, and Ji Woo as an ever-changing emotion.
To show the consistent nature of Gyeong Do, we only adjust the appearance tactfully every year to not look too different.
On the other hand, Ji Woo was built with a clear style, unique to each period - to the point that just by looking at her, people could guess her age in that time period, he said.
Currently, the character designs of Park Seo Joon and Won Ji An have been revealed. It can be seen that the two stars have balanced appearances and are a beautiful pair. However, their "chemistry" and acting in a role that creates harmony are still unknown to viewers.
However, Surely Tomorrow is still a project that has received public attention. The film is scheduled to air on the evening of December 6, after "Mr. Kim's Dream Life" ends.
