Contractors are responsible for fixing landslides on Prenn Pass during the warranty period

Lam Dong - The entire Prenn Pass that has just collapsed has been handed over for use and is under a 12-month warranty period.

On November 18, Mr. Pham Van Thai Binh, Director of Lam Dong Provincial Road Maintenance Board, said that the entire Prenn Pass route has been put into use, but is currently under a 12-month warranty period, extending until December 17, 2025.

The minutes of handover of the Prenn Pass upgrade and expansion project will be managed, exploited and put into use by the receiving unit from December 17, 2024.

The entire pass is currently under the contractor's 12-month warranty period. According to Notice No. 659/TB-SGTVT dated September 30, 2024 of Lam Dong Department of Transport, the project to upgrade and expand Prenn Pass must ensure quality according to technical standards.

The project is invested by the Lam Dong Provincial Traffic Project Management Board; the joint venture of Deo Ca Construction Joint Stock Company - Deo Ca Traffic Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company.

The project has a total length of 7.369km, starting at Km221+680 (National Highway 20, ending at Lien Khuong - Da Lat Expressway) and ending at Km229+049.74 (National Highway 20, intersection to Xuan Huong - Da Lat inter-provincial bus station).

The quality of the project is assessed to meet the requirements according to the completion documents and conclusions of the professional agency.

During the warranty period, the contractor is responsible for maintaining, repairing and overcoming any arising damages according to the contract.

At the same time, contractors must take measures to ensure traffic safety, especially when the pass area is often subject to heavy rain and high risk of landslides.

As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, at around 9:00 a.m. on November 17, at Km224+600 - Km224+700, Prenn Pass, a landslide occurred, blocking the negative slope, causing half of the road from Da Lat to Ho Chi Minh City to be seriously eroded.

Immediately afterwards, the Department of Construction coordinated with the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward, the Traffic Police Department (Provincial Police) and related units to implement traffic diversion, ensuring safety for people and vehicles.

Late on the same day, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee issued a decision to declare a natural disaster emergency on Prenn Pass to direct relevant agencies to overcome the landslide. Currently, functional units continue to monitor the status of the pass and deploy measures and solutions to overcome landslides.
