Lao Dong Newspaper once reported that Mr. Pham Van Thai Binh, Director of Lam Dong Provincial Road Maintenance Board, said that the entire Prenn Pass has been put into use, but is currently under a 12-month warranty period, extending until December 17, 2025.
However, the media of Deo Ca Group said that this project's warranty period has expired.
According to the communication of Deo Ca Group, the project to upgrade and expand Prenn Pass started construction on February 10, 2023. By January 2024, the section from Datla waterfall to the end of the route has been opened to traffic and put into operation and use.
On July 26, 2024, the investor accepted the completion of the project and was approved by the Department of Transport of Lam Dong province (now the Department of Construction) for the completion of the acceptance and putting the project into operation and use in Notice No. 659/TB-SGTVT dated September 30, 2024.
According to the contract signed between the investor and the construction contractor, the warranty period is 12 months, the warranty period expires on July 26, 2025.
In the working minutes dated November 18, 2025 between the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province, the Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 1, the Construction Contractor consortium, and the Design Consulting unit, the parties agreed on the warranty expiration date as July 26, 2025.
Sharing about the support for overcoming the consequences, the communication of Deo Ca Group said that, accepting the proposal from the Traffic Project Management Board No. 1 of Lam Dong province, Deo Ca Construction Joint Stock Company (DCC) invited leading experts to survey and assess the level of landslides to have a plan to support handling and overcoming.
According to initial assessments, the continuous and prolonged heavy rain with a large amount of water flow caused erosion of the retaining wall foundation, collapsed the retaining wall and broke nearly half of the Prenn Pass road at Km224+650. This is a steep location with complex geological foundations and is continuing to be at risk of landslides due to bad weather.
At the technical meeting after the survey, DCC agreed to support the province in urgent tasks including installing fences, traffic safety warning signs, and forcing steel plate piles through dangerous landslides to create temporary traffic conditions.
On November 19, 2025, DCC completed the technical plan and urgently mobilized personnel and equipment to the site, organizing construction day and night. Initial handling was completed on November 24, then waiting for approval from the authorities to allow vehicles to circulate again.
Discussing the issue of construction insurance, Deo Ca Group said that Deo Ca did not make further statements about this information. Because they are contractors, the project's warranty period has expired.
The Prenn Pass project has a total length of 7.369km, starting at Km221+680 (National Highway 20, ending at Lien Khuong - Da Lat Expressway) and ending at Km229+049.74 (National Highway 20, intersection to Xuan Huong - Da Lat inter-provincial bus station).
The quality of the project is assessed to meet the requirements according to the completion documents and conclusions of the professional agency. During the warranty period, the contractor is responsible for maintaining, repairing and overcoming any arising damages according to the contract. At the same time, contractors must take measures to ensure traffic safety, especially when the pass area is often subject to heavy rain and high risk of landslides.
