Talking to Lao Dong newspaper on the morning of February 5, Mr. Dang Tran Cuong - Director of the Department of Cinema said: "The movie Life Tree has not been officially broadcast in Vietnam, images are shared online. The Department of Cinema has given opinions to the Radio and Television Department on this issue.
In terms of image management principles, all films when shown on officially registered platforms in Vietnam will be strictly managed. As for the film that has not been licensed in Vietnam and is shown on some'illegal' channels, we have also raised our opinions.
The movie "The Tree of Life" airs from January 30 on the iQIYI platform and the golden hour of CCTV-8 channel (China). Before its broadcast, the film received great attention when the trailer posted on Weibo attracted about 2 million views.
The appeal of the project comes from the cast of famous actors, especially Duong Tu - a familiar face to Asian audiences.
However, after the trailer aired on CCTV-8, a part of Vietnamese audiences discovered sensitive details in a short scene. In the setting of a police station, behind the character played by Duong Tu, a map containing the image of a "broken line" was hung.
Although the duration of appearance is very short, this detail is considered a serious violation of national sovereignty. Before the public's reaction, many Facebook pages and fan groups of Duong Tu and Ho Ca in Vietnam have proactively stopped updating information and images related to the film.
Previously, in early January, the Department of Cinema had requested Netflix to remove the movie "Shine on Me" starring Zhao Jinmai and Song Weilong, after discovering a "broken line" image in episode 25.
Further back, the movie "Let Me Shine" was also removed from the online platform in October 2025 for similar reasons.
