In the document sent to Viettel Telecommunications Corporation, FPT Telecommunications Joint Stock Company, VieOn Joint Stock Company, Vietnam Satellite Digital Television Company Limited and Tencent Holdings Limited, the Department of Cinema requested a report and explanation on the release and dissemination of the film "Let Me Shine".
Previously, the Department of Cinema received information reflecting that the Chinese-produced film "Let Me Shine" was being popularised on cyberspace, including an image of a " map of the cow's tongue" violating national sovereignty and violating Article 9 of the 2022 Film Law.
The Department of Cinema requires Film Distribution platforms to report, clearly showing information about the film ( film name, country of production, supplier), distribution form (copyright purchase, distribution cooperation...), release time on the platform, film censorship and classification process before dissemination.
At the same time, units must also clearly state measures to handle in case of detecting violations. The deadline for report submission is before 11:00 on October 3, 2025.
Deputy Director of the Department of Cinema, Mr. Do Quoc Viet, emphasized that the Department will take serious steps to handle the matter in accordance with the law. Based on the inspection results, the unit will apply specific handling measures and strengthen inspection and supervision to prevent similar situations from recurring.
The image of " cow's tongue road" appeared in episode 16 of the movie "Let Me Shine", making a large number of Vietnamese audiences angry. Immediately after the information spread on social networks, many Chinese film and showbiz news sites announced that they would stop sharing content related to the film.
The platforms distributing in Vietnam also quickly removed all 16 episodes that had been posted, and stopped airing this drama.
