On January 12, the first "Green Pen" Short Story Writing Contest - 2026 was launched, opening up a literary playground for high school students.

The contest is directed by the Vietnam Union of Literary and Art Associations; The Literary and Art Times coordinates to organize with the Vietnam Foundation for Literary and Art Creativity Support, BOOKAS and Tri Thuc So Digital Media Group (TTS).

The contest is organized in the context that the entire education and cultural sector is promoting innovation, digital transformation and implementing major Party policies, including Resolution 71-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development. Not only stopping at a professional activity, "Green Pen" aims for a long-term goal: to arouse love for literature, nurture language thinking and discover young writers with great potential for the country's literature.

Creative playground exclusively for school-age children

Green Pen" is for students from 12 to 18 years old studying at secondary and high schools at home and abroad. The entries belong to the short story genre, reflecting the life and people of Vietnam through the clear and sincere lens of school age - from family, friends, school to early life emotions, thoughts about society and human values.

According to the Organizing Committee, the contest does not focus on elaborate writing techniques or existing templates, but encourages students' personal voices, real emotions, and natural storytelling. Through this, "Green Pen" hopes to create a healthy creative space where students can freely express their thoughts, practice their ability to observe, express, and think independently.

A notable highlight of this year's competition is the companionship of BOOKAS - a digital content and audio book publishing platform that is developing strongly in Vietnam. BOOKAS aims to connect authors - works - readers in the digital environment, contributing to adapting reading culture to technology trends.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung - Founder and CEO of BOOKAS - shared: "We believe that investing in the knowledge and creativity of the young generation is investing in the future. The'Green Pen' contest not only seeks good works, but also creates conditions for young authors to soon get acquainted with the digital publishing environment, understand the copyright value and the responsibility of the creator".

Through the BOOKAS platform, required works will be posted in digital content, helping students, teachers and parents access a new form of publishing - flexible, modern but still ensuring full compliance with the provisions of law on publishing and intellectual property.

Spreading the spirit of digital transformation in reading culture

The organization of the "Green Pen" associated with the digital platform also shows a clear response to the national digital transformation policy in the field of culture - publishing. In the current context, reading culture is no longer limited to paper books, but expands to e-books, spoken books and forms of content access in the digital environment.

The Organizing Committee expects that through the contest, students will not only be contestants but also become future "digital citizens" - knowing how to be creative, knowing how to share knowledge and access reading culture in new ways, suitable for the modern pace of life.

The contest accepts entries from January 12, 2026 to the end of October 20, 2026; summarizing and awarding prizes are expected on November 20, 2026, on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day. Contestants submit entries in the form of posting directly on the BOOKAS platform; each student is allowed to submit a maximum of 3 entries.

Entries must be composed by the author himself, have never been published, and do not use artificial intelligence (AI). Works that meet the requirements will be reviewed by the Organizing Committee and published on a digital platform.

The prize structure includes 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, 5 consolation prizes, 10 Favorite prizes and companion prizes for authors, schools and teachers who have made positive contributions to the contest.

The contest is sponsored by the Vietnam Union of Literary and Art Associations - a leading prestigious unit in the field of literature and art of the country. The Jury gathers famous writers with rich creative experience and professional activities, including: Writer Vo Thi Xuan Ha (Head of the Jury), Writer Nguyen Dinh Tu and Writer Tong Phuoc Bao.

Green Pen" is expected to become an inspiring creative rendezvous for the young generation, contributing to nurturing love for literature and spreading humanistic values in school and social life.
