Da Nang is strengthening comprehensive tourism development. In addition to preparing a series of vibrant festivals on the Han River in 2025, the city needs to prioritize upgrading seaport infrastructure, closely coordinating between Da Nang Port and the Department of Tourism.

Series of events on the Han River

The People's Committee of Da Nang City has just issued a list of cultural and festival activities in 2025 on both sides of the Han River to serve residents and tourists, including 22 periodic activities and 57 annual activities.

From February to September every Saturday and Sunday, the City Cultural - Cinema Center organizes the Bai Choi singing activity at the folk art performance space - South of the East bank of Dragon Bridge, Tran Hung Dao Street, Son Tra District. Some other programs such as street dances, street music, folk dances... or cultural reading festivals, film screenings... are held alternately on both sides of the Han River, Bach Dang and Tran Hung Dao streets. With annual activities, the city organizes them in accordance with the time frame and major holidays of the year. In January, there will be activities to welcome the New Year, Tet market...

The People's Committee of Da Nang City assigned the Department of Culture and Sports to adjust and organize the programs in a suitable, effective and diverse manner. The program lists are widely announced for the people and tourists to have information. The People's Committee of Da Nang City also requires the units participating in organizing the program to invest and innovate in both content and form, attracting people and tourists to move towards forming unique cultural products on both sides of the Han River.

Need to upgrade Da Nang Port infrastructure

Early last December, Da Nang Port had a working session with the delegation of Da Nang City Department of Tourism.

At the meeting, Da Nang Port said that in the past time, this unit has closely coordinated with the city's functional agencies and tourism - service units and enterprises to welcome cruise ships to Tien Sa port. In recent years, the output and revenue of Da Nang Port mainly focused on goods through Tien Sa port, while cruise ships only accounted for 0.65% of revenue and profit. In particular, currently at Tien Sa port, only 2/5 large berths can welcome large cruise ships, limiting the number of ships and the time cruise ships stay at the port.

Therefore, the Department of Tourism of Da Nang City proposed that Da Nang Port coordinate in organizing the reception of cruise ships through Tien Sa Port such as enhancing the facilities at Tien Sa Port to serve cruise ship passengers. Improving the capacity to receive the number of cruise ships docking at the port also increases the port docking time of cruise ships.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An - Deputy Director of the City Department of Tourism - suggested that Da Nang Port have a plan to survey and exchange experiences with international ports operating and serving cruise tourists and orienting Tien Sa Port to become a departure port for cruise tourists...

Da Nang Port also requested the City Department of Tourism to report and advise the City Leaders to propose to the Ministry of Transport and competent authorities to create conditions for the Port to be licensed to receive passenger ships at the remaining ports to increase operational efficiency and facilitate the reception and arrangement of cargo ships at the Port. Gradually convert the function of Tien Sa Port into a tourist port after 2030.
