Tu Long was born in 1973, in a family with an artistic tradition in Bac Ninh.
His father is Meritorious Artist Vu Tu Lam (stage name Hai Lam) and his mother is Meritorious Artist Nguyen Thi Phuc (stage name Minh Phuc), both working at the Quan Ho troupe of the province.
Tu Long studied at Bac Ninh Construction College, Civil Carpentry Department and worked as a carpenter.
Tu Long also worked as a bus conductor and a construction worker carrying mortar for construction sites in the town, and drove a motorbike taxi to increase his income, support himself, and send money back to his family.
After working many jobs and saving money, he entered the Cheo Department of Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema, and began his acting career.
After 1999, Tu Long joined the General Department of Logistics' Cheo Troupe, starting with small, unknown supporting roles. Inheriting the artistic genes from his family, Tu Long gradually became a talented Cheo artist, winning many gold and silver medals at professional stage performances.
Besides, Tu Long also showed his sense of humor and had a talent for comedy. In 2000, he appeared in the program "Weekend Meeting" on VTV3 and quickly became a famous pair with People's Artist Xuan Bac, especially loved by the audience.
Since then, Tu Long has been working in parallel between comedy and cheo stages. He has become one of the most popular artists in the Northern comedy scene, his name is associated with special programs such as "Gap nhau cuoi tuan", "Tao quan", "Oh my god, you're here"...
The male artist was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist in 2012. In September 2014, he was appointed Deputy Director of the Army Cheo Theater.
In 2015, Tu Long was honored to be awarded the title of People's Artist. Five years later, he was promoted to the rank of Colonel.
Most recently, Tu Long appeared in "Call Me by Fire" as a participating artist. Here, People's Artist Tu Long once again revealed his singing talent and stage presence, which was loved by a large audience.
Happy marriage with wife 12 years younger
In addition to his brilliant career, People's Artist Tu Long also makes many people admire his happy and fulfilled family life. After his first marriage broke up, in 2015, Tu Long married his wife Minh Nguyet, who is 12 years younger than him.
Minh Nguyet is a lecturer at the Military University of Culture and Arts, holding the rank of Captain.
After 9 years together, People's Artist Tu Long and his wife have 3 children, 2 boys and 1 girl. The youngest son was born when Tu Long turned 50 years old, and is praised for looking exactly like his father.
Having another child at the age of 50, Tu Long expressed his gratitude to his ancestors and grandparents. He believes that in his current life, what he desires most is stability in work, family and economy. From stability comes peace.
Despite his busy work, People's Artist Tu Long always takes time to take care of his family and help his wife take care of their children. On his personal page, he often shares warm moments of daily life with his wife and children. In his free time, he also takes his wife and children to travel, experience, and explore here and there.
Tu Long is very proud of his wife. He once shared that his wife is a very thoughtful person, good at cooking and taking care of her husband and children. When Tu Long participated in "Call Me by Fire", his wife always cared for and supported him wholeheartedly.
