“The One” is a TV series in the series “Criminal Police”. The film revolves around the life of the character Hong (Doan Quoc Dam), who grew up in the family of the retired boss Le Toan (Meritorious Artist Hoang Hai).
Hong always aches to find the cause of his parents' death, but at the same time he also has to fight against other hostile forces and protect his younger brother, Khuong "Lieu" (Duy Hung), who grew up with him.
In the film, if Hong impresses with his calmness and intelligence, Khuong "Lieu" receives the audience's affection thanks to his impulsive personality, his "destructive" nature, and his love for fighting.
Many viewers commented that Khuong “Lieu” is a character tailor-made for Duy Hung. However, the actor commented that this is a difficult character, with many complex emotional scenes, not as simple as “just go crazy” as the audience thinks.
“For me, the role of “reckless” Khuong is difficult. Khuong is not only reckless or crazy, but also a person who values emotions.
For Khuong, family is very important, Khuong is willing to risk his life to protect his family. With those close to him, Khuong is always polite and considerate.
Portraying a character with many emotional states and many "extreme" scenes is really not easy, it's not "just going crazy" like everyone thinks" - Duy Hung said.
The actor revealed that he was very happy to try out “different” roles. However, in 2024, he only had 10 days to change from the appearance to the psychology of the characters of 2 completely opposite roles, “2024 is a lucky year for me because I get to try out many colorful roles.
After “One Family”, I only had 10 days to play the role of “reckless” Khuong. Transforming from a docile, mature older brother into a rebellious, unruly younger brother also made me think a lot.
I had to work with the director a lot to find the hairstyle and clarify Khuong's personality to bring the most convincing scenes to the audience" - Duy Hung shared.
Duy Hung also said that he loved the character Khuong because of the complexity of his psychology. In particular, the scenes showing Khuong's "reckless" love for his family left a special impression on him.
“This film left me with many memories. I was especially impressed with the scenes where Khuong expressed his love for his family. The scene where Le Toan’s father passed away helped me challenge myself. I had never experienced a similar situation in real life, but when I was on set, my emotions were very intense.
Even now, when I think about that scene, I still get so emotional that I shiver and get goosebumps.
As for Mr. Doan Quoc Dam, because we have worked together on many previous projects and are close brothers in real life, we don't need to say much in "Doc Dao".
Our scenes were all quite smooth. I especially remember the scenes where we had to argue, get angry, or the scene where Hong stayed up all night to take care of Khuong when he had a fever and had a seizure" - Duy Hung said.
Admitting that he wants to try his hand at many types of characters, Duy Hung also said that his mother does not like him appearing in gangster, fierce roles:
“My mother was afraid that after watching the movie, the audience would think I was as fierce or scary as the character in the movie.
My appearance this time was a bit rebellious so my mother reacted a bit. But I know she loves me very much and is always proud of what I have done. She also always encourages me in both work and life."
With encouragement and support from his family, Duy Hung expressed his desire to continue to transform into more "unique, strange, and eccentric" characters to challenge himself and serve the audience.
