Thanh Tu was born in 1975 in Hanoi into a family with artistic traditions. She used to work at the Cai Luong Theater before joining the Youth Theater.
Thanh Tu is widely known to the audience for her harsh and sharp roles, the most prominent of which is the character Tu "chao long" in the comedy program "Meeting at the End of the Week".
Besides, she also impressed with roles in VTV's series such as: "Living with Mother-in-law", "The Judge", "Running away from Youth", "Love and Ambition", "Don't be a grumpy mother", "With you, there is peace"...
Sharing with Lao Dong reporters, Thanh Tu said that many people commented that she "does not know sadness" when seeing her always smiling, but deep down, the female artist is an introverted person, rarely sharing private matters with friends.
Thanh Tu said that she had had thyroid cancer for 4 years and has now overcome metastatic cancer.
In 2022, while filming "Don't Be An Angry Mother", she was diagnosed with cancer. Despite being busy filming, she still had to take a week off for surgery. The surgery was successful, without any sequelae. But then, she received a biopsy result that the tumor had metastasized.
When I heard the news, I was stunned and also scared, but I was also encouraged a lot by the doctors because this is a type of cancer that can be treated. After a while, I discovered that I had a tumor in my chest and had to have surgery. Fortunately, this time the biopsy result was not cancer and there were no post-operative complications like before...", she recounted.
Thanh Tu said that in addition to thyroid cancer and a tumor in her chest, she has had surgery on a tumor in her thigh twice. Every time she encounters challenges, she feels stronger when her family always encourages and cares for her.
From 2022 to now, I have had 4 surgeries, had to go through a biopsy and wait for the results, so I always feel worried, and my mood fluctuates erratically. There are days when I drive aimlessly, not knowing where I am going or who I will meet.
But after being sad, I encourage myself because I still have parents and children. I think that patients always maintaining an optimistic spirit is the most important thing," Thanh Tu said.

After being sick, Thanh Tu looks at life "slower", she cherishes the moments with her family, children and grandchildren and wants to do many meaningful things for her loved ones.
The female artist confided: "After treatment at the hospital, because of "meeting the doctor and finding the medicine", I feel healthier, gained 10kg (laughs). Currently, I do not abstain from anything, eat comfortably and go to the hospital for check-ups every 6 months. The doctor said I have overcome metastatic cancer...".
Thanh Tu added that when she recovered her health, she went to make skits and film. She admitted that she is not picky about scripts, but fortunately, the roles Thanh Tu participates in have "colors", impressing the audience.
People say that long-time actors don't need to try anymore, but that's not true, I still have to learn every day. I think, I still have health, and if I have the opportunity to work, I should diligently "ploy", and improve my skills with the profession," she confided.
Tu "chao long" said that filmmaking cannot make you rich, her life is only enough to eat: "I once bought a house and a car, but recently had to sell my car because my eyesight has been a bit poor lately. I often go wrong, afraid of being fined. In the city, I ride a motorbike for convenience, and when going far, I take a taxi, ride the film crew's car".
