At the end of 2024, while preparing for a live concert about Hanoi, the female singer suddenly received news of breast cancer.
Right after the surgery in early 2025, she boldly shared her medical condition with women struggling with the disease as well as everyone about the belief that they would overcome it together on her social networking site.
A fulcrum for her to overcome her illness
From the first days of knowing she had a terrible disease, the first person Hong Nhung thought of was her children. As a single mother, she understands better than anyone her responsibilities in the family.
"Who will take care of the children if I am no longer there? Especially when I am a single mother? I asked the psychologist what I had to say to my children. Luckily, I'm 13 years old and the children understand me," she choked up as she shared.
Besides her child, her biological father is also a great support. "My father and I have just had surgery, cancer but we are fine, very healthy. Hong Nhung's father was a person who strongly gave scientific advice. But when I returned from the hospital, my father said he was very sad, which made her very heartbroken.
Music becomes a spiritual medicine
Before the live concert, she received bad news but still refused to take medicine even though she knew it could affect her health. This was always a secret until she shared. Music is something that has always lived in her, "the best medicine for herself".
Right after the surgery 10 days, Hong Nhung started practicing her voice again. She said: "At first, I had to cry. You can't get high. But now I singing is back to normal. I'm still practicing my voice every day."
She also diligently meditated and returned to her daily routine by arranging flowers to avoid being treated like a patient. She also sang to encourage patients in the same room to become optimistic and positive.
