The movie "The Bride of a Rich Family" by director Vu Ngoc Dang and producer Will Vu brings a new breeze to movies that exploit family themes, satirizing the status quo; the movie is also maintaining the upward momentum of Vietnamese cinema revenue.
As of October 19, "The Rich Bride" reached the top 1 in Vietnam's box office revenue, with more than 23 billion VND (based on revenue on Box Office Vietnam) after 2 days of official screening, equivalent to more than 350,000 viewers. On October 20, the film held the top 1 box office with a revenue of 3.6 billion VND, surpassing Thailand's "The Ghost Eater 2" which has more than 3 billion VND (revenue for the day).
The 114-minute film "The Rich Bride" revolves around the hundred-billion-dong fraud scheme of Tu Lac's (Uyen An) family with the "right and wrong" purpose of escaping poverty. The "mastermind" Tu Lac hatches a daring plot to marry Bao Hoang (Samuel An), CEO of Nguyen Vu Group.
To arrange troops, approach Bao Hoang and overcome the most difficult obstacle, his mother - Mrs. Phuong (Thu Trang), Tu Lac needs to coordinate with the whole family including father Hoa (Kieu Minh Tuan), mother Mat (Le Giang) and brother Loi (Huy Anh). Adding to that is the ridiculousness and absurdity of the nouveau riche family Mrs. Ky (Hong Van) and daughter Luna Dao (Quynh Luong).
